Why are USA Americans so afraid by Socialism?

Why are USA Americans so afraid by Socialism ala Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Sweden type of socialism? These countries are doing just fine if not great with their form of socialism known as The Nordic Model.

The USA as we know it is still a young country and I think deep down there’s still a lot of rejection subconsciously of what Europe does. Kind of like a parent/child relationship. There are also millions of other factors in there but I don’t have time to write a novel on American history

México is very obviously a troubled country and we're younger than the USA as an independent country yet at least ALL Mexicans have healthcare (not perfect but at least we do). We also we're the first country in the world to officially create a federal law "Federal Labor Law" flawed but again at least we have it where in the USA the biggest economy the world has ever seen until now people have jobs that offer 0 benefits. Look at Uber and Lyft trying at all costs to prevent their drivers from having healthcare and some labor rights. 

I think the biggest issue with the USA is their huge corporations that dictate and actually control USA policies.

Individualistic society. Hence why America is the pillar of toxic productivity, over work and hustle culture...If it becomes socialist then it breaks down on the pillars of what America was founded on. A lot of people would feel like their own hard work is being taken advantage of by lazy people.

I know what kind of socialist I am but México has also been managed by the interests of a very small sector of the population (ex president Carlos Salinas and his followers) who have a big say lowkey on what goes on with our country, economy and our policies.

Politics are confusing to me and kinda scary sometimes, I do know I lean left, but not necessarily socialist or communist (I will never be a tankie lol) I just don't like facists or grifters.

The Nordic model is certainly not perfect 

but those aspects of USA politics are horrible 

Hopefully México didn’t follow that path (in theory) but the USA influence is becoming stronger and stronger

Most ppl in the US have the attitude of "f*ck you, I got mine", there is no greater good for them, only personal success and benefits. And many people are just woefully ignorant and uneducated, believing everything they see on TV or online with minimal ability for independent thinking, fact checking, real research that involves more than googling. 

And they unironically believe it is the greatest nation on earth and all other countries are godless hellholes.

It’s so funny to me that conservatives are mainly Christians but fully reject everything that Jesus stood for with giving everything you have to those who don’t have anything - apparently it’s only good to give if it’s your choice. It boggles my mind how they cannot put two and two together.

Maybe the kind I am? kind of moderate-left. I like the bits about our tax dollars actually being used to help people (medicare for all, actually fixing our infrastructure, other welfare systems and safety nets) but I also value a free market (consumer power) and believe that a lot of these nation wide "sweeping legislation" ideas wouldn't go over well (what works in New York might be a disaster in Mississippi and vice versa).

Really, that issue is uniquely American due to how large and diverse the US actually is. I like the Nordic model too, it just needs to be worked in properly into our 50+ different individual economies in a stable way.

I’m not an expert on this by any means, I just know that there are many many factors that cause American society to reject socialism. It’s odd though because my state is 100% conservative in the people they vote for BUT the policies they vote yes on are left-leaning policies. A lot of people just vote red because they are scared of change.

For instance, they voted on capping the interest rate on pay-day loan companies which resulted in all of them shutting down in my county - thank goodness because they were profiting off of people in poverty.
