The Dolby Atmos mix sounds really different, the vocals are way heavier and there’s definitely some sounds added/missing.

The Dolby Atmos seems to play by default if it is available, which I don’t know if it sounds that good if you don’t have the hardware for it, so I think I’m gonna leave it off, lossless is enough for me.

Looks like it also works with The Fame Monster, Born This Way, ASIB Soundtrack

not Joanne and ARTPOP though 😅

Lossless and Dolby Atmos are different. Lossless is as you said. But what they are calling Dolby Atmos is the new spatial audio mixes "powered by Dolby Atmos"

Entirely two separate things. If the OP is hearing new mixes of Chromatica, then it is what Apple is calling Dolby Atmos spatial audio.

Yes spatial audio is Apple version of Dolby audio geared specifically to it's devices. Thank you that makes sense now.

This is FULLY a different mix of the album with different vocal takes at times or cut ones in some places - not just mastering in 5.1

I think Dolby is only activated if you enable spatial audio. Im pretty sure if you just toggle that off, it will default to lossless.

Chromatica

I enjoy the Dolby version more for the Taylor Swift albums I’ve tested it out on. The difference is significant. This really feels like an evolution for streaming.

Everyone on Reddit is saying it made Chromatica worse. :messga:

Kinda agree. It feels less polished if that makes sense but the whole experience is still amazing!

It’s fun that it’s different but I definitely agree with people say it’s worse. It’s not just about where the sounds are coming from, there seems to be a difference in how loud certain things are. Like, it’s almost like a different song with different takes and ideas. You get to hear new sounds which is cool but it’s like if this album wasn’t produced by people who knew it would be listened to this way. It sounds like a demo at some points.

Oh no they killed the Chromatica II-911 transition. :saladga:

THERE IS NO WAY THIS ALBUM WAS MEANT FOR THIS. I *SWEAR* there are points where parts of the songs I’m familiar with are simply absent.

I've been listening to the album on Ultra HD 3D for a while now on another streaming service. It's fine.

On Amazon Music "3D" is Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA. On  Apple Music its "Spatial Audio."

Apple Music isn't the first streaming service to receive Chromatica in "Dolby Atmos." It's the latest service to receive it.
