What it does is it gives them a platform though and should be treated as such. Not a competition. If they wanted to put an emphasis on the competition element they would have better challenges and offer more prizes. It is INSANE how much some artist spend on outfits/props/wigs just so they can leave first. Take Kahmora for instance. She was the most polished hands down in all of Season 13. She went home first.  I only watch the show for the queens and the talent. Started to not care about the judging that much. It went downhill after S9.

What I will say is that I hate how they get to own all of your catchphrases/potential products/things you produce while you are on the show and even after it's done. It really makes some people second guess if they want to apply in the first place. Would love for a change in that part of the contract.

Until then, this is Elvira saying unpleasant dreams.

I personally be love each queen should be given a budget they aren’t allowed to exceed.

Their contract is pretty much reality show standard. Y’all need to stop trying to bring this show down ‘cause it can be gone in a minute.

You can argue that if it weren’t for the show there would be no catchphrases. The show has never prosecuted anyone for using catchphrases on merchandising, they just wanna make sure THEY don’t get sued by the queens if they use it on their products and videos.

What other show pretty much requires a 10K investment to do good? Lol

The show doesn’t require you to spend anything. You can go there and not spend a single dime. Use clothes you already have, borrow from people, ask for favors. There are queens that won and spent very little money.

1. That’s standard reality show contracts, some are even worse.

2. No one forces them to sign, if they find the contract is too ridiculous they are very free to not sign it.

it's a catch22 - without the show they can't get even close to the fame and recognition the show offers them, and with the show they are legally bound to participate in whatever the producers demand. But that's show business.

This is comparable to an unknown songwriter giving a song to a big star, and the condition is that the star gets the songwriting credit. :ohwell:

In the end, they are all consenting adults and they agree to the terms.

I like watching Busy Queen's videos. She is so detailed.

The RPDR contracts suck. But I posted I video of a lawyer going through it a couple of weeks ago and she gave some ways the queens could get out of it because it's unconscionable. I think that was the word she used.

Ok but that’s one of the biggest disadvantages lol?

There’s little time for it, those who do have to pull all nighters in the hotel room

The queens get called “crafty” (derogative) when they do that (Monique, Chi Chi)

Yvie was lucky cause they wanted a crafty winner that time, but even then not everyone’s speciality is looks

That means a rich comedy queen can have looks made for her and do well whereas a poor comedy queen who makes her looks in the workroom will strugle

And those who do make their looks on the spot are a next to nonexistent minority. Everyone pays thousands to get on the show
