"Cheapens the message...", please The BTW you're talking about was an album though, not a charity. Maybe "cheapens the message" wasn't the best wording. I meant more that it makes the charity less reputable. Seeing an incredibly wealthy pop star/businesswoman tie her charity so deeply into her personal business endeavours makes it very difficult for consumers to understand which of their purchases is going to charity, and which is going into Gaga and her team's pockets. When the same branding/messaging is being used for BTWF items and stuff like oreos and makeup, it makes me not want to donate at all because I can't be sure if my money is actually being used for the causes I want to support. I personally donate to quite a lot of charities, but I've never donated to BTWF because of the doubts stated. I would rather donate to a charity that isn't directly tied to a business ("Lady Gaga" is of course a company made up of many money hungry Bobby-types) and that has a clear breakdown of how each donation is spent.
