They are treating BTW as a cash cow instead of celebrating it

I do think the Reimagined BTW album is a nice idea, celebrating LGBTQ+ artists is always great. Poor quality tees and make up no one wants? She can keep it. At least part of it goes to the BTW Foundation tho. Still wish she released the picture discs and the USB driver, that would be perfect.

How is she exploiting them for monetary gain when they’re the ones who are being credited on the songs for the anniversary album and the proceeds go towards the BTWF, beyond that what is she supposed to do???? Once a star gets as big as Gaga, there's only one way forward. Everything she sells is overpriced now. Because enough people are going to pay that price because they are infatuated with the persona of Gaga. I mean it is what it is (and on one level it's entirely gross and on another it makes perfect sense). All of us go through a phase where we feel frustrated because of the lack of personal connection that we once had with Gaga. Just let it go. Enjoy her music, her art, performances. etc. Admire from afar. And let the rest of the negativity go as it's beyond your control.

lmao what's the difference between 2011 and now? The amount of merch she made for the album/era back then. Her whole Barneys collaboration, The expensive fragrances, etc. It's all business  moves at the end of the day. 

If you wanted to celebrate born this way as just an album, Go play it.

I don't really care that they sell loads of merch to celebrate, nor that it's mostly out of my price range

But I do wish more of the merch looked worth the steep price I'd be more willing to treat myself every once in a while if the items gave the same creativity, visual interest, and over-the-top vibe that the fashion and music of the BTW era itself did.

Anyway the Reimagined album is a nice way to celebrate, and also affordable to most folks, while also having a focus on the *music* and not just being "printed words or a brand name on a T-shirt" so at least there's that

I mean....do other artists honor previous albums even to this extent? 

There's merch, which if you're a collector like me is fun to wear/own, esp. for a 10 year album. And it's really not priced any higher than others. Except for the Versace shirt, which is priced as such because it's a designer label, much higher quality, and made in Italy. 

Then there's a remixed album which is shaping up to be re-recordings of the entire thing by other artists. That's pretty ****ing cool and exciting. And there will probably be more announced all Pride. 

That seems like an awful lot for an album that was released 10 years ago

Didn’t she literally go this huge convention and celebrate the album with thousands of fans there just like a week ago? Isn’t this what almost every artist does when they celebrate album anniversaries, release merch, release a special edition of the album? Shes giving some profits to charity and on top of that remember that Gaga isnt the one making the prices...her record company wouldn't just not see the opportunity for extra cash..this is the music industry if they see an opportunity of course they will take it

Shes also been promoting fan art as well so she isnt just throwing products to tell you to buy for her own gain

The ideal celebration would be:

6 unreleased songs from BTW 

A Live stream performance of the whole album (like what Kylie did)

Some merch to go on top of that.

We (LGBTQIA+) only have rights because of our $$, take a look at Cuba or Russia or China, how they treat queer people. In this capitalist world you are only worthy of what you can make ($$). Companies want our pink money. Harvey Milk boycotting beer companies is a great example of that.
