So do most or all of you think that a biological boy/teen who comes out as trans should immediately be allowed to play in the girl's team?

I think most of us don't really believe it's an issue that requires a state government to allocate funds, resources, and valuable time to examining each and every case of a trans girl, scrutinizing her biology, and announcing whether or not she is or isn't fit to play sports on the girls' team.

Like I said above, the only REAL issue is when cis girls would possibly lose out on obtaining scholarships but it'd be just as easy to expand scholarship programs to allow for more women and girls, cis or trans, to go to college and it'd be less morally corrupt than putting a queer kid under a microscope. Surely that can't be harder to do than what Caitlyn is suggesting.

Yeah this is fair. What Caitlyn says about examining trans girls sounds horrific to me. But at the same time I do understand why some have queries with the idea of a trans girl immediately joining the girls team. I work with teenagers and there is a clear and often huge difference in their physical strength and capability. In some if the classes I work in, the boys could be 6ft 2 and very strong while girls could be 5ft 2! I'm not even talking from a competitive POV, it's more for  safety. Like when the boys are in the middle of a game then I am getting the hell out of the way bc they will trample you as they are so into it. It's very difficult to discuss this without getting pounced on and immediately called transphobic though.  I really do not want to offend anyone and certainly am not an expert.  Which is why Caitlyn was in such a unique place to make a difference. She's seen it from both sides especially when it comes to sports. Her language is not what it needs to be  and its such a pity that as a trans woman herself she wasn't able to approach this in the right way to bring calm to the issue.

Yeah, we definitely understand the counter argument, there just has to be a better way to approach the issue is all.

We could take gender out of the equation all together and talk about how corrupt and abusive the college and professional athletic leagues are, for starters :vegas:

And as for casual school sports well...idk, they're mostly inconsequential and don't really NEED our attention while there are so many other, bigger, and related fish to fry imo. Just have standard safety practices like "no tackling, no getting physical" etc which are already in place at most schools since kids getting hurt reflects very poorly on them :spin:

Because they've never experienced the same social struggles that give you formative beliefs

I'd rather convene a committee that gets a law passed that stupid celebrities can't run for public office anymore tbh.

Though it will be funny watching the MAGAs be forced to decide between a Democrat and a trans woman.

It’s a shame because celebrities are the only motivation for some people to vote/interact. I just wish they would take their power seriously, and take actual stances and not ridiculous stunts like this.

why should she not be allowed to voice an opinion on trans women

@ALGAYDO kindly explain the sad reaction? Are we not allowed to question/allow opinions?

I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong

As a transwomen, i'm not at all offended! So many people who get the surgery decide they don't want the surgery anymore and have to pay double the original cost to reverse it!

Because it’s a harmful opinion from someone with influence and power. Simple as that.

So no person of any influence can speak up for/on behalf of a minority?

Poor Gaga :saladga:

Or is 'opinion' defined by what 'you' think is acceptable?

I keep on going against the grain, but why should she not be allowed to voice an opinion on trans women?

It's not her voicing an opinion, it's what she's proposing to do that has us upset:

More than half of all trans kids said they've seriously considered suicide. Imagine how many will be pushed over that edge if the state they live in says "you're not enough of a girl, go join the boys' team". It's damaging and ignorant at best.

I am very sorry if I offend anyone. It is not my intention.

Sport is a physical challenge/game. For 100s of years we have divided men and woman because of it. It seems unfair because it also opens the gate for less honest people to profit from this.

I just want to ask.

What should the rules be for a boy, wanting to profit from this, competing in a girls team/sport, and spending money to be able to do so?

Everyone seems to think that only moral/honest people are/can be transgender?

So because scammers exist we should limits trans ppl's rights? This is such a reactionary and backwards way of thinking.
