Twins studies show that the chances of two twins both being gay is massively, significantly increased with identical twins than with fraternal twins, but not 100% (depending on the study, identical twins have, like, a 50-80% of both being gay where fraternal have 20-40%). However, fraternal twins still have a higher chance than just two non-twin siblings. This indicates that something is happening to the genetic expression in utero, and that some genomes are more sensitive to prenatal hormones than others, and as such, are more likely to be gay. Our potential for queerness is likely hard coded, but whether we develop in the proper environment to manifest it is up to chance.
hELXIG 41,934
I'm beautiful in my way, 'cause my genes combining make noooo mistakes, I'm on the right track baby, I turned out this way due to a combination of genetics and a plethora of influential factors unable to be proven or disproven currently by scieeeeence Yeah, doesn't quite have the same ring to it It's called creative writing and you understand her sentiment. Arguing against the songs message because it doesn't explain sexuality in literal terms is just arrogant tbh. It's a beautifully written song that's helped millions of people to feel more accepted and comfortable in their sense of self. She's not writing a science book, it's art I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Mars 1,961
Its a metaphor for accepting yourself for what you are and will eventually become. Its not meant to be taken so literally. Also its a totally genderless song.
WhiteWitch 720
Firstly, you did not think this thread through at all. Secondly, this was definitely not the place to even really discuss this when the majority of users are lgbtqia+. Thirdly, until you are a research scientist, no one cares about your “opinion” on the matter, this “debate” is long dead. But also, it takes all of two seconds to google and educate yourself https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/29/science/gay-gene-sex.html

Mother of Puppies 35,722
A lot of people don't get the message behind born this way... I see a lot of comments on Social Media that say "ohhh she uses fillers" and "Oh she got surgery, so she wasn't born this way!" And then I'm like: It's not just about how we were born physically but about how and who we choose to be and how we want to see ourselves. You can be the you that you want to be and you can recreate yourself if you want to any minute of your life. In regard to sexual identity and orientation I believe you are the way you are. Some people were born this way from the beginning and alsways knew they were gay (even if as a kid they couldn't adress it) and others needed more time to find this out. And then there are also people who changed later in life. There are no "restrictions" in that regard. There have been people who were once gay and then became bi or even straight. It can be both ways I believe. People can change their preferences even without "making" the actual decision. I think it's kind of like a "feeling". If I don't like to eat apples tomorrow anymore and I'd rather have bananas, then so be it. I would probably not even have a reason for it. Sometimes things are just the way they are. I think it's a difficult topic and I guess there can be a lot of aspects to it. But the message stays powerful and is true! Oh and about the upbringing... me and my sister were pretty much raised the same, but we're completely different in a lot of aspects. Everyone is unique. Gagas lil monster 2,432
Trust me, If being gay was a choice I wouldn't have made the choice. Being bullied and abused and having people question the validity of your sexuality. To have to try and "act straight" when I leave the house. If being gay was a choice I wouldn't have taken it.
