Her business stopped being the music, and it seems more like a fun hobby. Thats why she keeps releasing the same lame songs over and over again. Just get over the fact, she will be around for a long time but i dont think she is interested in having a big hit or something. True, she is the Cindy Lauper or Paula Abdul of this generation. Chromatix 2,858
For me, since her very begginings, Katy Perry was a mix of so many things and personas: Gaga, girl next door and dozens of other pop cliches. She doesn't had original, visionary concepts + music material she released from Witness till now is weak... Sorry Katy. You were one of the main pop girls in the 2010s. Now, if not her job on American Idol, she would have been forgotten. Look at Kesha - same story. Harlequin stan 🃏

Now, if not her job on American Idol, she would have been forgotten. Look at Kesha - same story. I disagree. Katy truly has her own touch when it comes to her music. You can feel that in Teenage Dream and PRISM. I think she felt pressured to change and “evolve” and the final product of it couldn’t meet the giant expectations from pop fans which led to Witness underwhelming performance and mixed reception. Thats totally different from Keshas story. She had basically to pause her entire career for a judicial war which lasted for several years. Her hype was gone and she was terribly boycotted for speaking up against a powerful man in the industry. I think we should stop to put all these women in the same category. Each one of them has their own lane and their own story. Both of them have suffered from either hateful stans or big people in the music business. Gabi001 2,441
The name of the song makes it quite hard to find it - when I type "electric" into google it finds me closest electric shops around I'm not having fun tonight.

To me, everything after Chained to the Rhythm has been meh at best Harleys In Hawaii was one of the best songs she released this past decade though. 10 hours ago, whoresup said: I don’t understand how hard it could be to just create some bops like the TD era, if they can do it once why can’t they do it again It’s music, it’s not cooking lol, you don’t have a recipe for a hit song. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

It's what they deserve. Come on, she's part of our childhood. Like, every superhero has a villan that we adore. She was Gaga's Jocker.
Guest
ok how many threads are people gonna make about electric?
SEANGT 5,328
She just needs better music. It's not that deep. Electric is boring and dated. Never Really Over is one of my favorite songs and it was 15 on the hot 100. She can make a hit at any time.
Genuine Guy 09 13,941
they definitely launched this with some push tho - radio stations played it the first weekend and its playlist reach grew to almost 60m - Katy needs a severe image rebrand. Imagine if after Gaga underperformed with ARTPOP she'd have kept dropping EDM songs and not evolving, she would at least chart because of her base, but it wouldn't be a stellar performance either. This is where Katy is now - her brand is outdated and her sound isn't popular, time to change if she want sucess again Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight
Better Day 5,766
I will forever die on this hill. Katy ruined her career by selling out to pop music. Her debut was fantastic, the rock sound was perfect for Katy. Self Inflicted was one of the highlights in Katy’s career. She unfortunately sold out to pop music, to make money for her former producer, and she never really knew what to do with the pop sound because at heart she is a rock star. She could of had an amazing career making Kelly Clarkson type of pop-rock. I wish Katy stuck with the pop-rock sound. Together You And I!
MadreMonster 2,584
Her career is so odd. We forget that gaga was basically down this same path but was smart to completely change the narrative and sling shot back into relevancy. id love to see Katy do this but I’m not sure if it will happen. Her next album will define what happens
