Even if she mentioned him once before it’s a bit strange. I think it would of been better if she talked about her inspiration from a gay black man often. That being said, it was 10 years ago and she was younger and probably didn’t realize how problematic it is to not elevate black queer voices. She definitely does now.

Was this actually mentioned during the actual Born This Way era? She always said it was inspired by her gay fans who came to her during the Fame Monster Ball telling her stories about being gay and how she helped them and how felt the need to do something for all those who came to her with stories like that.

Born This Way is that album that will go down the history. It transcends commercial success and bubble pop bops. It’s an album that fought head-on social discrimination. She really released it when everyone of her peers were busy pleasing the GP with bops (which is not bad at all!). It just makes you appreciate her more and how daring her albums were. 
 

This album was like a warm hug during my darkest days and when I first listened to the BTW (song), I literally was crying all day. It is as if a heavy weight on my heart was lifted.
