In a capitalist world we are going to have to deal with the fact that capitalist corporations are going to find ways to capitalize off of things. I'll take the representation since they were going to make money off of something either way. Just because something has a cool sounding buzzword like Rainbow Capitalism doesn't make it inherently evil. And it's always first world queers who complain about this stuff while people like me would be elated to see any form of representation. Hmmm I get your point but it doesn’t work like this. Visibility could be by helping LGBTQ youth who got abandoned by their families rather capitalizing on something with a rainbow. Visibility could be in many other forms, showing that being LGBTQ doesn’t mean your sick and should be abandoned, through awareness campaigns. All these gestures are flaming the hate tbh, in many conservative communities they see it as “war on God”. We should send an image that we are in every part of society and we won’t go away, not people who just party in a month of the year. Many straights still think gays are not family people who probably shouldn’t live in family oriented neighborhoods, or Transwomen are creepy pedos. This is not it. There are a lot of stigmas that could be erased with time using this money into awareness campaigns . Having a product with a rainbow is not helping and just portrays us as a commodity just for the month. COME ON GAYS!!

While many companies could go further and actually donate or be active in the LGBTQIA+ communities they’re profiting from, the visibility is critical. All of these brands going rainbow during pride A) makes homophobes LIVID, and B) creates an inherently safer space in many places because the GP are being exposed to so many companies who are at least supporting us at face value. It creates more impact than you think, especially with companies that cater to children. Imagine being a young kid who feels confused by their feelings and your favorite toy company comes to the plate publicly to support how you feel. It’s a big deal, and matters more than some of y’all think. I support it and think it’s great. Don't most proceed of rainbow pride items go towards LGBTQIA charities? That's a really bold accusations to make with nothing to back it up. https://www.barefootwine.com/lgbtq According to Lego, the company partners with Workplace Pride, Stonewall and Open for Business to help “shape strategies to support employees who identify as LGBTQIA+ and allies across the company.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/abcnews.go.com/amp/US/lego-announces-lgbtqia-set-debut-day-pride-month/story%3fid=77801299 https://www.absolut.com/us/products/absolut-rainbow/ If people actually take the time to look they would see that most of these companies have partnered with charities for LGBTQIA+ These are just three that I quickly looked up. But let's be real, literally most of our society revolves around virtue signalling and hypocrisy. I'm lowkey tired of being upset about it too. People suck, let them play with rainbow Legos if it makes them feel better, idgaf Whimsical bitch

I didn’t make that claim directly against lego. I was arguing against someone who said that companies should only do pro-LGBTQIA+ promos/products IF they donate. I did not do any research into any specific company, nor did I claim to. Good for Lego for doing that, but that wasn’t anything to do with my point. 🇨🇺🇧🇸 “It’s one banana, how much could it cost? $10?”

Alannah 2,988
Idk, I would have loved this growing up because gay relationships were hardly discussed or even acknowledged by toy companies. I never played with Legos because they weren't even advertised "for girls" so I never had the opportunity because relatives thought dolls/Barbies were the route to go. I understand the virtue signaling that happens during Pride month, but this is actually really cool. What turns me off are the awful t-shirts and cringey slogan-based knick-knacks at Target, Walgreens, etc. But even then, I get so exhausted of shaking my fist at everything. Instead, I'm going to focus on the young people who will see that and feel included, even when their families or peers say otherwise. Because seeing that set in a store/friend's house/whatever would have made me feel better when I was a kid.
