That's what got me with Dynamite. I thought there was no way native English speakers wrote this and then when I looked at the credits and found they were all English speakers, I didn't get it and I still don't. The team behind this one seemed to have a better idea of turn of phrase that would resonate more with Western ears. The beat was enough to make people forget Dynamite's weird lyrics but it wasn't a trick they could do twice, after all.

yeah there's more of a message here too. if you look, the song is clearly about love/sex, whereas dynamite didn't even have a remotely loose message. i think overall, butter is just a much more polished song, and overall far better than dynamite.

This video makes the Stupid Love video look like it costs 1 million dollars.

The song is a bop tho.  I hate that male artists don't have to try half as hard to succeed. 

Also when Blackpink last lead single came out the "criticism" was that it was too similar to previous songs. There was no growth. Here everyone is praising that its similar to previous song. 

I guess the lesson here is that penises are better.

They did for their korean tracks. That's what made them stand out than the rest of other kpop boygroups. But songs in other language other than english barely recognized by the grammys and not getting played on the radio.

i agree that they need to add depth to their english songs. but you need to understand, their korean tracks have heaps of depth, they've just been pressured by their label to somewhat water down their english tracks to appeal to a wider audience. they've got songs about suicide, self-love, obsession, sex and a whole lot more, it's just that they've somewhat sidelined those to seek out top 40 success over the past year.
