1 step forward 3 steps back went way too hard with the sample, good lord. not just the piano sample but the melody too. it’s literally just olivia singing different lyrics over new year’s day. that’s kinda a yikes from me

Even the title lol, if you look at it, it says 13, she was just being a Swiftie with the song.

I really loved this album. Best debut since Billie’s first LP imo.

I don’t know why but I feel like this is what Baby One More Time would sound like if Lorde wrote the songs :icega:

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Arrangement wise, the album sounds like it was made in 3 days (most songs sound like they incorporated a 7 sec sample looped for 3 minutes straight) . The melody progression is really obvious for the most part, with some nice twists here and there. Her voice is good, but she's leaning towards that sad/emo type of vocals that ruled the 10s, so she's not yet distinguishable from this sea of singers. Lyrics are basically the same throughout the LP, not my cup of tea.

The album tracks that I enjoyed are brutal and Jealousy, Jealousy.

Overall, it sounds really forgettable but she has potential for future releases.

Nothing groundbreaking, it’s an okay album. There are enjoyable moments so yeah, i might listen to it again.

her lyrics are as straightforward as TS, which is fine as she is a huge fan, her vocal delivery reminds me so much of Billie. The layers and harmonies remind me of Lorde, and im a huge Lorde stan so yaaay i guess?

I guess this is the album if Lorde made songs with Taylor-esque lyrics

Just finished. I’m a big fan. I need to listen again because my brain was spinning and I didn’t process the second half.

She is one to watch out for. This album took some unexpected turns for me, although I’ll agree it’s not groundbreaking. It doesn’t really need to be though. It’s interesting and the lyrics are evocative and true.

She is my favorite of Taylor’s children. The 1 step forward, 3 steps back copy claims are way overblown. I’ve listened to Reputation a million times. The melodies are similar during some parts in the beginning of the verses, but they quickly diverge.

This is a strong, solid debut. Everything is really clean, the lyrics are very vivid. Here and there I won’t care for one, but it’s a lot more consistent than Taylor’s debut for example. I’ll have this entire album on repeat.

The claims that all the songs are all about a breakup are the product of the same misogyny Taylor faced early in her career. On top of that, she’s 18 and doesn’t have a lot to pull from.

right and it’s kinda cringe to me. idk, she could’ve been more creative than making it just a knock off new year’s day

EDIT: also i’m kinda tired just seeing headlines about her in relation to taylor swift. at first i thought it was so cute but now it almost feels inauthentic to get some buzz

I see the point and I do not argue much against it, since it was all mostly produced by the same person (with obvioius pop-rock and Taylor Influences).

I think the excessive amount of ballads or slow-guitar-lead songs hurt the Album a lot in the end.

I really hope she explores the G4U, brutal, Jealousy2x sound more in a next project and really solidifies herself as an artist.

Hope ur ok was my favorite, beautiful song. I enjoyed Driver's License, Good 4 you, and Jealousy, Jealousy too. The rest of the album didn't really do anything for me though.
