Why Oreo?

I was thinking about Gaga's Oreo cookies.

Why did she collab with Oreo and were the cookies released when the Chromatica era was already over? (I know some people still expect a tour to happen but lets be real chromatica is over and House of Gucci era has began)

Were the Oreo cookies one of the manny plans they had from the beginning for this era, but they couldn't cancel it because the they were already too far in production to cancel it, so they were going to be released anyway? Or were they poisonous and a way to shut up fans who were crying for Chromatica promo?

I think it was a fun idea to release Chromatica themed cookies, but I think it should have happened around the release of the album, shortly after. It felt so random at the time when they came up with it. Last week I was in a store where they had a shelf full of the pink with green Oreo cookies, and I thought why aren't these sold out already? I haven't tried them myself though. Do they really just taste like golden Oreo?

Simply because they're the best cookies

But, I believe this was one of those promo plans that was easy to push out with little effort so they did. It was cute but could have definitely been better. I mean, I did buy 3 packs after all.

I'm pretty sure quite a lot of plans were delayed/cancelled.

This one was delayed. I'm sure quite a large company like Oreo could put a 3-6 month pause on production/releasing.

The explanation is simple. Gaga had other priorities. And that is OK. Her family member had COVID. 

I'm guessing they couldn't delay it further and had to end up releasing, which is why it felt random. The only sort of promo she did for it she was literally laying down in a bed opening the packet. 

If the whole original promo plan could have gone ahead with everything else the album era release had to tie it all together, I'm sure it would have made sense.

For now, we can only speculate.. however I think sometimes fans don't realise she's a real person? lol

You mean in May-June when people were protesting and supposed to be in lockdown when COVID was at one of it's worst moments.  I think I read somewhere that the Oreo cookies were planned during the pandemic so it wasn't part of the original promo rollout I think.

I do agree that it's such a wasted opportunity that should've pushed Sour Candy as the single along with them and a music video, it'd have been amazing in December-January.

I've had them. They just taste like a normal golden oreo. Nothing special. I just think it was a fun way to put Chromatica out there.

Oh right, I forgot when that started. Not the best moment to sell cookies. Maybe around 911 video release would have been better then.

Oreos are delicious and I think the cookies are cute. But I really wish she had partnered with a candy company for Sour Candy. The Oreo tie-in to SC always felt off to me. But who knows how the Oreo collab would have rolled out alongside everything else that was planned and canceled due to the state of the world, maybe it would have been more cohesive

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if their rollout got delayed a few months because of the pandemic and that's why the timing of their release seemed odd. Food manufacturing-grade molds (for making the special designs on the pink cookies) are expensive and the entire manufacturing supply/creation/delivery chain got really screwed up here in the US for a long while and priorities on manufacturing orders reshuffled.

Another possible explanation is they were always intended to be released at that time, but that the era would have been continually pumped up through then (if the pandemic hadn't happened and cancelled so many plans), so it wouldn't have seemed so random and out of nowhere, more like "here's the next thing in this long-lived full era"
