NYC Monster 262 Posted May 20, 2021 Share Posted May 20, 2021 Lowkey think she might be on her way to becoming Gen Z's Taylor Swift, just a less squeaky clean, "edgier" version than what TS was when she debuted. She has teenagers and young adults in the palm of her hand and has already cultivated herself a pretty large following thanks to the success of Drivers License, TikTok exposure, and of course, Taylor Swift being sort of a guiding light for her. I've noticed that about 90% of Taylor stans I see on social media also go hard for Olivia and completely support her, it's incredible to have a fanbase that big having your back during your debut era. It’s almost like she’s a combination of so many different people (in a good way). A hybrid of Shakira, Lana, and Taylor, in an Olivia way lol. So many breakout stars have a hit debut album and then disappear, especially females. And conversely, some artists start small at first and then grow into a megastar. I've made plenty of wrong predictions on that front before who are now killing it. But I'm pretty good at determining who the 15 minute ones are. It's too early to say for Olivia, we'll have to see how the album sells first to give some indication. But I thought that by now, to see so many artists diminish in the years that we've been fans of Gaga, that we'd know better than to say a few breakout hits makes you an MPG.
