I'm excited for this! This will be so much better than Madonna's. I love Cher.

I've heard reports that Madonna is ruining her own biopic and making things up for the movie and it's literally a mess supposedly :ladyhaha:

This is exactly what I’ve been saying Madonna should do :bear:

She has a biopic in the works too. Originally co-rote with Diablo Cody, but now mainly by Madonna herself.

I wonder how much Katy Perry is trying to bribe them to give her the role of young Cher?

Oh I’m sure. Madonna’s biopic seems to be in limbo ever since the writer quit. Cher seems a lot more lax with her story and public image, so it’ll probably be easier to work with her.

Diablo didn't quit, news outlets initially reported misleading information. Diablo just finished her parts of the script.

Gaga would be perfect for this but I really, really want her to play Amy Winehouse in her biopic. I think it would be grittier and further removed from Gaga's own persona. I think Gaga playing an American pop icon is too uncanny - but Gaga playing a British jazz singer with a really traumatic life would be close enough but not too close for comfort.

Pitting women against each other is so intrinsic in pop culture that you can’t even have two legends films succeeding. It’s immediately Cher vs. Madonna.

I for one am really excited for both. They are both legendary artists, and deserve a good film portraying their amazing life stories.

And as for all the misinformation regarding Madonna’s film, Diablo Cody didn’t leave Madonna’s biopic. The studio confirmed the script had been handed in and that the reports were false. Don’t peddle fake news.

Gaga would be so amazing in this role but if she is going to do a biopic Amy Winehouse or Liza Minnelli would be my top picks!!! She would murder playing Liza and I think her playing Amy would rip my heart out.

I love Cher, and she's an icon, she's amazing personnality wise and music wise what she brought to the table. But she's not interesting enough to watch a biopic about her :rip: and that's only my very unpopular opinion and I understand the majority who don't agree with this, but to me personally, it'd be boring. I dont think every celeb out there can have a biopic, you really have to have an interesting story in your life... For example, I don't think Beyoncé in the future would have an interesting biopic neither Gaga, but someone like Michael Jackson it makes sense, a lot happened in his life, and the drama of it is kind of a reflection of our society (obsession with race, with surgery, with tearing down someone, loneliness, money, being in a golden cage). Britney Spears as well.

For example, a biopic about Claudia Schiffer is useless, but one about the model Gia makes sense.

An interesting thing is that both Cher’s and Madonna’s biopics are being produced by Universal...

Feeding the gays with legendary gay icons biopics one film at a time. :firega:

I actually kind of agree here. Her life has been full of iconic moments but frankly not enough pizazz. Even her personal life with Sonny isn't that compelling nor is her time after their relationship. I think it speaks volumes that The Cher Show was a flop, her story just isn't that interesting to tell; and that's okay.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

If your life ended up being boring, in my opinion it's a good life you lived :huntyga:
