Anderson123 30,165
I always have to be very careful with what I say when one of these threads pops up because I've gotten WPs but I just want to say that it's already confusing when in english non binary people decide to use "They" because of the way you write sentences and it's supposed to be plural. My main language is spanish and that'd translate to either Ellos (Male Them) or Ellas (Female Them) so I don't even know how that works because Elles is not correct according to rules BUT ANYWAY. Whatever works for non binary peeps and helps them define their identity. I know what it is to be a gay man and for people to not take your sexual orientation serious or say that you're doing it for attention so can't even imagine what transgender or non binary people have to go through now to explain themselves. I guess it's just a matter of being respectful. I won't comment on Demi.

As a person who speaks Spanish, i understand what you say, BUT in English it is grammatically correct to use âtheyâ for a noun whose gender is not determined or known. So itâs correct to use it for people whose gender identity doesnât fall on either male or female. So it follows proper usage of the English language, for any of the edgelords who think theyâre doing something by pointing that out (not you btw I know youâre being respectful about it <3)

Can anybody explain Iâm confused Purely from a grammatical point of view, âtheyâ can either be used for plural or as a gender neutral pronoun to identify a person whose gender is not known, for example: âSomeone left their umbrella in the handstandâ. We donât know who left it there, so we donât know their gender and you identify the person with âthey/themâ. Furthermore, we can use it then for non-binary people because they donât identify with either male or female gender identity, so you use âtheyâ as a gender neutral pronoun.
Agunimon 19,670
As someone who doesnât really understand why people feel they donât identify with a gender so they arenât one when he and she are just says of addressing them in third person and referencing them to others⌠âŚthere is absolutely no logical reason for me to conceive of purposefully not addressing them as how they would like to be addressed. Itâs really not that hard and makes their identity feel valid and them feel valid as a person because of that, regardless of my lack of understanding. Some people should stop being so purposely disrespectful. We get it. You donât like Demi. Most of us dislike them.
Reality 65,048
Some of yâall are ****ing disgusting. Just respect their pronouns.
