That artist, musician, performer who bled on stage. The vocals. The piano skills. The fashion. So original, so pushing the envelope. Yet so human, and non preachy. She was relatable. She talks to her fans and empower them. And she was HBIC. All she wanted was being a super star and defy the mainstream. And we made her one.

After ARTBOP she had a lot of shifts. All these preachy and boring kindness talk started being aggresive from this era, which I always suspect that she developed as defense mechanism to cope against her critics during this time. She started to take a step back. She became to be more lowkey. She became to share just what she needed, and when she did, it doesn't always mean what her fans wanted or needed.

She became less relatable, but I love her anyway, and shifted and limit the focus myself to only her arts and anything related to it aka the promos, the merch, movies, magazines, TV performances, etc. She can preach whatever these days, and that doesn't mean I always hear, heed, or agree now. So long her music is good, I am staying supportive of her. And she have not dissapoint, even the much hates/misunderstood album; Joanne.

Back in 2008 I loved her bad-ass attitude and enjoyed her songs, but wasn't a fan yet.

When I saw her cherry tree session of Pokerface I was intrigued because of her musical abilities and loved the sound of her voice.

I started reading more about her, watching her interviews. From early on I really connected with her as a person. The 2009 VMAs blew me away and when the 2009 AMAs came around I realized I was a diehard fan of this woman. 

To sum it up: first thought she was a nice new pop star, got blown away by her musical talent and visual performance art but it is the personality that made me connect so much with her.

She felt really relatable to me early on. We have a lot of similar tastes in music, fashion, art, men and women I never saw her as weird or mysterious and it was strange to me it took many people such a long time to talk about her as a person instead of this popstar 'weirdo'. She has shared a great deal of herself with her fans. It has healed and hurt her, but I am very grateful for it because she has enriched my life in so many ways. 

She's very real, passionate, not afraid to share her dark side, she can also be over the top, dramatic, a bit cringy at occasions, which is beautiful because all those elements is what make her the beautiful person she is and she isn't hiding them just to appeal to a big audience.

First because of her music: the energetic and powerful vibes of her songs, their catchiness, her undeniable knack for great catch phrases. 

Later on: Her versatility and shapeshifting - there is no one like her. Her being an advocate to everyone being the "odd one out". The looks. Her musical talent, her piano skills. Her unique approach to stardom and artistry. Her being a strong woman. Her activism: Voluntary work and practical commitment to values is very important to me and I at least admire her for being that consistent and perhaps sometimes annoying when it comes to her kindness agenda.

Not only for being an amazing creator that shapeshifted the pop music each era, from the hypnotic pop music of The Fame to the rock-infused pop of Born This Way, from chaotic and marvelous ARTPOP to the simple but deep Joanne. She is a person who cares, she is someone that uses her platform to speaks her mind to the things that are closer to her heart. Talking about the LGBTQIA+ community back then? Well, a really bold thing to do, it was not "cool" or it will gain points for you with gen z on TikTok. So, I think that this is what makes her an artist, an icon of this generation, and also my favorite pop star. (And sorry for my poor english, lol)

Yes, her critics but I think she also saw what a mess her own fandom is and even though a lot of you don't wanna hear about kindness she's gonna say it anyway. Like a true mother!
