My only criticism of artists approach to streaming

With the recent thread about “Love Me Right” not being on any of the streaming services it has made me think, many artists stubbornly do not add their bonus tracks to the streaming services. For example Gaga does not have Again Again, Retro Dance Freak, Love Me Right or 1000 Doves (Piano Demo) on Apple Music which baffles me because you’d think in this day in age artists would add all their releases discography to the streaming services. A couple of artists did add their bonus tracks to the streaming services last year - Carly Rae Jepsen and Britney but many bonus tracks are still missing. We should all start a campaign to get artists to include all bonus tracks to the streaming services and quite possibly increasing their streaming numbers and improving their profits.

There is a difference between Deluxe tracks and Bonus tracks/Exclusives. Best case would be the infamous Target Bonus versions, where an artist gives the exclusive distribution rights to that brand. Depending on the duration they will be able to publish them elsewhere after the contract has ended. Correct me if I’m wrong :)

Edit: also I just checked – Retro Dance Freak is available on streaming services in Germany

These “Bonus Tracks” & “Exclusives” are from albums from years ago. For example “Living Proof” by Cher released in 2001 has 2 bonus tracks which has never saw the day of light on the streaming services they are no reason why they should not be on the streaming services.

When the song is as bad as Love Me Right, I'm not surprised she hasn't added it to streaming. :bear:

sometimes it’s better to not say anything if there’s nothing you can add to a conversation bestie

Sorry Dolly. :bradley:

@nightadieu posted the exact same thing I was thinking, that because these bonus tracks are on exclusive albums for certain stores, that's why they're not available for streaming. I can't think of any other reason. It's strange as you said, because in times when streaming is one of the best important aspects of releasing music and charting, you'd think artists would have as many songs possible on streaming platforms.

Exactly, we, pop fans, should start a campaign for artists should put on their bonus tracks to the streaming services.

I honestly feel like the bonus tracks are just overlooked because one specific edition of the album is uploaded

Again Again was at some point on Spotify but The Fame Monster album got updated and it just disappeared

I absolutely agree though, I hate when artists' catalogues are not comprehensive on streaming

(In the case of Cher's Living Proof - I hate how the album has the shorter version of Song For The Lonely)

Those  exclusive tracks contracts to a certain store can go for as long as 50 years so...

As for the other countries bonus tracks,  let me reiterate my post on other thread:

But for like regional bonus tracks, such as, all those Japanese bonus tracks that artists always does, it will be hard to be included globally. First because of copyrights, which will likely be only allowing that certain song to be distributed within Japan. Labels will need to do extra paperwork if they want to made it available globally. And most labels don't bother, cos they don't see it worth the money and effort. Secondly, those Japanese bonus tracks are there as incentive so that Japanese people will buy the CD, usually along with other physical bonuses. If those supposedly limited to Japan track is available elsewhere, the Japanese locals would not find that worth the money at all since they can always buy those albums at lower priced from abroad.

These “contracts” really need to be a thing in the past.

I like that it makes some pressings/copies more valuable and it also means we get more content overall.

We got a lot of good remixes with Born This Way’s international releases and exclusives, thirteen extra tracks to be specific.  I also love that the U.K. copy of Cheek To Cheek has the most tracks available from any version, it’s a cool piece to add to the collection.

If there was just one standard, we get less.

I do get where you are coming from but they should be a time limit on how “exclusive” tracks can be. I used the example of Cher’s “Living Proof” an album that is 20 years old and none of the bonus tracks are on streaming services. If anyone is listening to the album now it is through streaming.
