I'm really saddened by people here saying "of course it was a joke." Someone saying they are coming out is not clearly a joke. If he was joking he could just hop on any social media and say that. Posting rainbow hearts and "love who you love" is clearly a vague way of escaping being labeled, which is fine. He does not need to disclose anything and is probably being advised against it. But that's neither a joke, nor queer baiting. Much like Harry, he appears to want to be a pro-queer unlabeled person. At least for now.

I took it as him revealing he is a Harry Styles stan and not that he is apart of the LGBTQ+ community. I don’t think this is “queer bating”. I think it is just that people only associate the words “coming out” with being LGBTQ+, when in reality these two words can be used in an abundant number of scenarios. The hate is uncalled for as per usual.
