Would Lorde be more popular if she hadn't taken such long breaks?

To me she just writes and releases like a musician or old school artist. I mean like pre 1980s type of artist. Not saying artists weren’t super exposed before that but I think the singles/album rollout and publicity model we still somewhat use today, started with the advent of mvs and MTV plus everything else that came along.

So yes, in the standards of this era of music business she would be. But at least when she releases she pretty much does a whole cycle with it and flushes out the ideas without being onto the next thing. That’s refreshing.

Bigger? Maybe

But probably more miserable too

Almost every teen star that didn't take the time off had some real mental issues after

It's good that she's doing what she wants

Charts are not worth your health

red wine, cheap perfume and a filthy pout

Yes, she might have  lbut I don't think she wanted to be more popular.

Isn't she one of those  artist who just wanna do music without caring about the fame that follows?

I called her fade on here years ago and got attacked but I was riiiiight. It's the Nora Jones curse. Never liked her, glad I don't need to hear her at parties anymore. Fad is over.

idk what parties you’re going to where they play melodrama, but i want to go to them.

calling her a fad is a hilarious delusion.

Why do people want artists to work all the time? It’s something I’ve noticed with stans on forums and twitter. Like do you guys not realise that they have lives of their own as well? What if she likes these long breaks to focus on her mental health?

As a comparison—so many people are expecting Gaga to churn out Chromatica related content while she was filming a movie, like make it make sense :saladga:

Her sound continues on in Billie eilish and even olivia Rodrigo and a million others tho

Lordes iconic and will never get enough credit for it ; much like Gaga tbmfh

I would argue that Billie, Olivia, and Lorde are actually following a trend in music that was set by Lana Del Rey, and it is Lana who will never get the credit. I don't even like Lana that much, but it is wild to me when people say Lorde pioneered a style that Lana clearly did before.

I do think long breaks can hurt a music career, but that is Lorde's prerogative I guess.

Pure heroine very different than born to die while I agree that Lana is extremely influential. Lorde Lana and gaga are some of my fav girls.

The bridge of drivers license, and you should see me in a crown both have moments where if you didn't know better you might think it's lorde, for example. And that's what I'm talking about

Can't quite articulate what it is, but I also heard lorde, not Lana, in Troye Sivans debut ep and blue neighborhood album for example.

To be fair, girls like Olivia do have a style much closer to Lorde’s than Lana’s. Because while Lorde obviously was influenced by Lana, her style is still unique to her. And Olivia is definitely taking more from Lorde than Lana herself. So think of it like Lorde being the mother and Lana being the grandmother, as weird as the analogy sounds :laughga:

I think she would be.

I love Melodrama (one of the best albums of the decade, hands down) but it was released in 2017, that long hiatus was a big mistake, the GP lost a lot of interest (it should have come out in 2015/2016).

It's been 84 years since her last album :air: why bish? why?

:bear:

where's the album? feed us queen.
