I’m not being negative. I replied to your question.

You insinuated that wanted to "seem above something" when they were just asking a simple question. That could be seen as negative.

here’s how i think about it:

#1s obviously don’t define someone’s artistry or quality as a musician. they aren’t the most important thing in the world, same as a grammy or a platinum album.

but do i care about my favourite artists getting #1s? of course.

it’s still a huge thing, and i love seeing my faves succeed. i’ll love their music regardless, but i’d love to see gaga have more than 5 #1s to her name

Because that’s true. This user made this thread as a indirect answer to “Dua Lipa could go no1 next week” tread. It just comes of as petty and unnecessary.

I for my part couldn't give any less sh*t, tbh. I mean, I'm all hyped when it happens, but I will enjoy her music even if it was only #1 in the Bubbling Under :tony: .

Not even. Your bad vibes are not cool. You're clearly in a different mindset. I don't operate in the same way you do.

Hits are the cherry on top of the cake. Nice but not required

Not actually but I just think after all her hardwork since 2013 to rebrand and rebuild, I think she deserves to SMASH (like BTW, 1989, Teenage Dream level) again.

Then again, artists rarely do that twice. So maybe never. I certainly want more #1 albums to keep her streak. Idrc about singles at this point. Would rather all visual albums with no singles

In principle, no. As long as she keeps making good music, that's all that matters. But it's the precedence that those #1's give you that makes all the difference. Not only can you get some bragging rights but it shields your fave against being laughed at for a lack of hits. Fans of the biggest hitters love looking down their noses at those with fewer hits, especially fans of acts that have been around for decades. You can't argue with the numbers. And when you have #1 hits, that makes you much more likely to win Grammys, get features with big names, get more brand deals, get promotion, to do extensive touring and most importantly, to keep on producing material. Too often, we've seen that when artists stop pulling in hits, their labels stop caring. They largely disappear from the public eye, touring is kept to a minimum, award shows pay them dust and they suddenly seem to struggle to get an album out, especially if the lead single doesn't go anywhere. Hits keep the motor running. It will also extend an existing legacy. If Gaga's legacy looks amazing now, think of how even more awesome it will look further years down the line if she accumulates even more hits?

Yes, I'm happy about it I want her to know her fans care and put in effort for her like the other big fanbases. And I always hope she'll be successful and that's just one part of it

I think Gaga's fan base is mature enough to enjoy her music without caring about numbers. However I also think that numbers are just a confirmation for us that the GP likes which in return make us happy.

What do you think?

I don't think Gaga's fan base is mature enough to handle anything tbh.

I don't think it's about maturity , but most of us don't really care if she gets a number 1. Ofcourse we will be super happy nonetheless if she gets that. But it's honestly her, her music, her performances that matters. I will be more than happy with it.  Getting a top 10 hit or a number 1 is probably like an icing on the cake. I don't think most of her fans who have grown up with her really care about twitter bragging rights. :laughga:

Also the few people who have responded negatively, are always negative, so don't any pay attention to them.
