Well I actually really like it !

The awkwardness, I mean.

It feels like a true Steven Soderbergh film. It's the first time the Oscars are directed by... a cinema director.

His compositions are all about putting figures in odd places in frame, and also making use of depth of field through unusual lenses.

It's impressive how they are managing to film this

There needs to be clips/sketches because the nonstop talking is dragging and is serving any kind of energy to make this entertaining.

“Quo Vadis, Aida?” deserved the international category.

Need to see that. On the other hand, the winner "Another Round" really:

I guess it came on the "right" wrong time: through its depiction of parties and decadence, made people miss the old days

CHLOE looks so good just by being natural.

She was great with landscapes and all, also by being soft and noninflammatory in her film, which bothers me a little. Not as much as how sentimentalist it gets when she cheaply forces music on the obscene close-ups of the people with which she screamed THIS IS REAL.

PS: But I'll give her the power of empathy though, which is important for a reality tv country innit

PS 2: But Oscars like always are delayed in ennobling the true artists. Malick with his Tree of Life or To the Wonder clearly influenced Chloe so much ... (she can't help but capture the sky two thirds on the frame, searching for sunsets, or putting the camera close to the ground in order to accentuate the figures as like they were divine... that is all malickian, it's a shame he never got the best director Oscar)
