The annoying thing is that Boseman should have been nominated for Supporting. If he had been? He would have won easily. He just wasn't the lead in Ma Rainey's. And Hopkins was SOOOOOO amazingly good in The Father. If ever they're was a time to have a tie... Daniel Kaluuya should've been nominated for Best Actor (and won it) didn't make sense why he was nominated as Best Supporting Actor.
Jollibee 3,179
Frances has now the 2nd most BA win behind Katharine. I can see that she’s tying it in the future.

This. The only reason I think he was nominated for supporting is because his character and Stanfield's character "shared" the story. However it's undeniable that Daniel had more screen time
elijahfan 26,305
Well well, that was all pretty anticlimactic... which was to be expected, but I had hope the Oscars would still find a way to turn it up. I don’t know why they chose to show so little footage of the nominated films, or why the music performances weren’t shown during the actual ceremony... It would have made it all a bit less one-note and more entertaining. The fashion didn’t save the night either, it was hardly memorable and there were proper tragedies. Meh, not great. President Biden 5,898
didnt watch and really don’t care. Whereas the Grammys are too commercially driven, the Oscars have become a movie list of films that 99% of the general populous have never ****ing heard of. And most of the time they’re winners are shitty “artistic” movies with predominately white casts and either a cliche political message or something British. I got drunk

If you had watched at least a few of the best picture nominees, you would know that wasn’t the case. Not the biggest oscar fan, but some of the best films of all times have won. You sound like the typical contrarian. The typical viewer watches whatever netflix or disney pumps into them, most people don’t even watch movies, most people are too lazy to actually find good films. Award shows (for the most part) provide a platform for filmmakers who make excellent unique art judged by people whose career it is to seek them out. SlaeUrAnus 15,976
Whilst Sir Anthony Hopkins is a tremendous actor (and one of the best alive), I am appalled at how the Oscars have profited off Chadwick's death. They practically campaigned for him to win in the buildup for tonights ceremony, and even Hopkins expected him to win. In my messy era.

Hopkins performance was masterful but Boseman should have been honored here. I truly love Frances McDormand too, she’s perfected her craft but would have been great to see Mulligan win. I liked the simplicity of this years show, but it did feel a little too low-key. Why? Bc Chadwick died? Sorry but that's not a valid reason. I have no doubt he would have won an Oscar eventually but Ma Rainey was not it. 😇

It was nothing to do with the show organisers. They can't just hand it out to whoever they want. People just opted not to go for the pity vote. 😇

I just woke up to see the winners and though I'm surprised bc I thought it was a lock, I read an Oscar predictors board and a LOT of them were choosing Hopkins. Or at least saying Chadwick will win but Hopkins SHOULD win. I think a lot of voters probably thought CB was a lock too so decided they'd vote for AH. I haven't seen The Father and will never see it bc the subject matter is too close to home but everyone said it was an acting masterclass. 😇
Queen Bitch 10,513
Just woke up and saw that Another Round won (yes thats really all I care about lol) and it’s fully deserved. What an amazing film

Why is it an inherently bad thing that most of the population hasn’t seen the best films of the year? What bearing does popularity have on quality, especially in film? Like... the biggest box office movies of the year are: Bad Boys For Life, Sonic the Hedgehog, Dolittle, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Tom & Jerry. Which of those do you think is legitimately better than any of the contenders? headspin, happiness, DE̤̣A̢̯͔̘T͏͙̗̟̫H̗̙͡ͅ
