I haven't seen the movie Viola Davis is nominated for, but she's the best actress in the world periodt, so she needs to win anyway :ally:

Is Gaga nominated?

Yes! For Best Abandoned Era! She's also the frontrunner to win it.

I’m so uncultured. I’ve never even heard of any of the nominated films in the major categories.

If you have HULU, Nomadland is free to stream, I believe. Get to it :flower:

Ready for the Nomadland sweep. I watched it finally and it’s truly one of the most beautiful films i’ve ever seen.

Promising Young Woman better win screenplay (and please win actress too!!)

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

It’s a great movie and she’s amazing in it, but I think Chadwick Boseman might be it’s only acting win (though Viola deserves to join the multiple oscar club)

I used to be like this but then I just liked all the film enthusiasts' social media pages and just followed the news (award season) and you pretty much have a good idea of the films every single year before the Oscars.

I didn't have the time to watch it this year but I've been doing this for years.

It’s actually a lot of fun. I’ve been doing it since 2016, and it makes the Oscars worth all the hype for me.

I've seen Viola's performance but not Andra. People are saying Andra is gonna win it, who do you delivered a stronger performance?

Andra was the only good part of a not so good movie, Viola was part of something where she was an equal in the sum of its parts if that makes sense. Imo Viola was a little better, but Andra was amazing.

The best actress race is the hardest category I’ve ever predicted, every single nominee except Vanessa Kirby has won one of the precursors, so it’s really hard to say. Honestly I don’t think Andra or Viola will win, my bet is on Frances and Carey.

I'll be happy for any win of Soul, The Father, and Judas and the Black Messiah.

Frances only recently won a Best Actress Oscar, I haven't seen her performance but that makes me predict against her. Has Viola ever won Best Actress? I know she won Best Supporting Actress for Fences but maybe this is the time they'll recognise a black actress in a leading category.
