ChicaSkas 22,343 Posted December 9, 2012 Author Share Posted December 9, 2012 DAY 8 -- Dancing In The Light Volume 1 -- Reconstructed! * Reconstructed in 2012! * DOWNLOAD: Dancing In The Light Reconstructed Vol. 1 http://www.sendspace.com/file/xw5ilv As many of you may know if you've been following my crusades in Audio trying to find old compilations -- the ones I've had the toughest time finding are the Dancing In The Light Remix CDs made by DJ David Cocas from 2009 to 2011. Of the 4 volumes he made, I've only been able to find Vol.'s 3 and 4 in full and complete condition. Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are out there in someone's computer, somewhere on the globe, but are nonexistent online in a downloadable form. On top of that, DJ Coca's huge blog on music was shut down and his Mediafire folders that held everything (including those 4 volumes) were removed last year. So any links to his DL's have long since died or expired. Fast foward to this year -- I managed to locate Mr. Cocas by Googling his various previous usernames on sites and we finally connected. He runs a whole new blog now, called MusicIsMyLife. Click to see it just like the old blog, but sadly, with most of it's old content deleted by Mediafire's copyright police. David had the content on 2 external hard drives, which seemed to work alright, until one day both of them gave a curious error whenever he plugged them into his computer: "Redundancy Error" and "Parameters are incorrect", "not accessible - do you want to reformat your drive?" Of course, he immediately exited the screen, re-formatting the drive would lose years of his content. David is a hardcore collector of Female Singers and Bands, an absolutely huge span of material from several hundred artists (including Gaga, Beyonce, Kylie Minouge, Stevie Nicks, and scores of Madonna) is on his 2 drives, so there is no way he can bring himself to throw them away, not with all that content still in there, under the surface of those error messages. So, I found the original tracklistings for the Dancing In The Light Vol 1 and 2 by googling harder, they finally turned up on other blogs that had reblogged his content. The tracklistings gave me the exact names of the original remixes that made up the set, so I was then able to Google each remix, one at at a time until I finally found darn near all of them. I emailed remixers, tweeted them, added them, and messaged them, 2 of them replied and sent me the original files. The rest I ripped offline from You Tube and Daily Motion, Mixcloud, Soundcloud, and other sites. Russia's search engines, as always, proved invaluable as well. When I couldn't find the exact title, I substituted other Gaga remixes by the same remixer (example -- Pulse Sonic and DJ Pepo Madrid did other Gaga works) and plugged those in where the originals should ave gone. In essence, this is an Audio Restoration, a patchwork of what once was, until David and I can figure out how to repair his drives!
