Billionaire lobby’s Bojo to fix ‘tax’ issues over personal texts

“Boris Johnson faces claims of “sleaze at the heart of No10” after he promised a billionaire he’d “fix” a tax issue in personal texts.

Labour demanded answers after the BBC published messages the Prime Minister sent to Sir James Dyson last year. 

The incident unfolded at the height of the Covid first wave when the government was urging private firms, including Dyson, to build ventilators to stop the NHS running out.

Singapore-based Dyson's holding company, Weybourne Limited, wrote to Chancellor Rishi Sunak on March 15 to ensure there would be no change to the tax status of workers who came to the UK for the project.”

Private companies were begged to help make ventilators, they agreed to but said they wanted tax relief to build them so their costs could remain low.  I’m not a Tory by any means but this is perfectly acceptable during a pandemic.  The lobbying was more of a push to speed up the tax relief anyway as it was promised.

It’s utter corruption tbh. The UK government REFUSED to join the EU procurement of ventilators but they gave away BILLIONS to their friends. Dyson is a Tory supporter.

It’s not corruption, tax breaks are pretty normal in situations like this.  I’ve been receiving a tax break on my working from home expenses.

Paaah if their ventilator procurement was anything like their vaccine procurement we were damn lucky to not join them.  What a f*** up that was, good think you were with us and not them otherwise you would be in lockdown 4.0 right now!

With the situation with David Cameron and now James Dyson it just shows you how utter corrupt the Tory party is. 
 

No, we procured the vaccines whilst still adhering to EU rules. I’d still rather be tied to the EU than this utter corrupt UK government.

No it doesn’t.  Cameron is a crook but private companies begging for tax relief to keep costs low on life saving ventilators is not corruption.

Yeah, Scotland thinks her voice ain’t heard yet... she’s got an even harsher ride if she somehow even gets accepted into the EU with her deficit, debt and small population.  If you think Tory austerity was bad, wait until the EU pulls a Greece on you lmaoooo

It wasn’t just James Dyson?  Every company that got onboard with helping supply ventilators, PPE... any type of equipment got tax breaks, and as they should.

It’s still cronyism, these dodgy contracts they given away like sweeties to Tory friends throughout the pandemic - 10.1 billion in PPE contracts. They were global incentives to procure PPE, Ventilotors but the tories decided to make their friends richer.

Yep, do you?  Considering your rampant support of them in favour of the United Kingdom I’m guessing not 

Don’t get me wrong, some of the contracts stink but tax relief is standard.  As said, I get tax relief.

I do understand how the EU works. It’s still extremely more democratic than the UK will ever.

Right, good luck with the worst austerity Scotland has ever faced 

They message pretty much asks for confirmation that the promised tax relief is coming, Johnson confirmed.  It’s a real non-story that has only blown up due to Crooked Cameron’s dodgy dealings.
