I think she's still dabbling in the "edgy" persona tbh, look at the photo on her IG just before this one, she still has that edgy style she's known for. Although at the same time, I think she's trying to stir away from being only known for that particular thing, especially when so many people dislike her for it. I guess we'll have to wait and see what she has in store!

Growth doesn't necessarily mean a different sound, many artists change their sound without really evolving. Her sound has become so distinct and a brand, and her 2019 album is still outcharting so many other newer albums in 2020 and even 2021, so since it works for her and has been such a smash success I don't see why she would change it. That said, we still don't know if any of the singles she released last year are going to be on it so she might actually change, who knows.

I know but I don’t want her to end up like Katy Perry who flopped because she didn’t change anything about her style for years. I would like to see something different from her. Lorde managed to change it up with her second album but still keep her signature sound. Also Billie already has two albums out that could have been one album when it comes to music style.

It's interesting you say that because it's commonly believed that Katy flopped because she changed too much too fast. OOTB-TD-Prism Katy was basically the same, served the same childfriendly bops and all three were smash eras with #1s. As soon as she tried to push a different brand with "woke" pop and a whole different image, she started flopping. 

I personally view the transition from billie's EP to the album as a perfect example of growth without changing sound. The production was similar since she still worked with her brother but the subject matter and her delivery were very evolved, she tackled subjects like climate change, suicide, and substance abuse, and sounded more mature (well, as mature as you can sound at 16 years old)

That was directed to the person who said “I hope new album will sound like Therefore I am” which IMO sounds just like everything on her latest album. And I don’t see this change in sound and I was listening to her music even before WWAFAWDWG?

Hmm Nobody said that about Katy tho. She didn’t change her style since 2008. 
I honestly just want her to change it up a bit and do what Lorde did with Melodrama. That’s all. I wouldn’t want her to stay on this level where she releases stuff that basically doesn’t sound different from her previous stuff.
