So um, I took a look at the rumor list again and it actually just says you get the choice of one of the Kanto starters from Sycamore. It says nothing about the end of the game. I think I must have just been thinking about all the previous times you got a different starter and how it was always at the end of the game. It changes up battling, you have to weigh the pros and cons between making the Pokemon mega-evolve or giving it a different item. It could totally change the outcome of a match!
