I remember growing and being told that I live in the greatest country in the world and how important it is to be patriotic. With things like this happening every week and nothing being done to stop it, I hate this place. I despise it. I’m embarrassed. I’m saddened. And I’m sacred for my life, for my friends and family, and for everyone. My heart goes out to every victim and their loved ones from this shooting that we should never allow to happen

I don't wanna be that guy, but I never, not even for one second bought into the lie of "American Exceptionalism" which is funny because I'm usually naive and oblivious to most things.

I never see my city’s name on this site—of course it was for this reason. How awful to have to feelings like this is “another one”; “nothing will change”; “thoughts and prayers.” As this is a red state, they won’t do sh!t about it.

While I don’t want “evil to win,” I can’t help but be fearful of going back to “normal.” I used to work at a major retailer and, every day, I kept wondering if or when something like this could happen. (We had protestors “rob and loot” last summer, which didn’t scare me because they had every right to, imho. My coworkers were just so appalled. How about being appalled about the injustices that peacefully protesting hasn’t made marginalized groups heard?).
No place is safe from the oh so precious “2nd amendment” (which was about ****ing muskets, not military grade weapons, if I understand it correctly). FFS!

Really puts things in perspective when this happens in your backyard. And this is not the first one here—but probably the first one that will gain coverage.

Sorry for the rant, but my heart is aching hearing this. People were just trying to work. Have a normal life. It’s a huge company here and you see FedEx planes flying in multiple times an hour.

I’m not sure what normal or healthy looks like for this country. Like others have said, we have always been sold the false idea that America is really best. Sure, there are wonderful beauties here. But, overall, what a load of garbage in many ways. As George Carlin said, “It’s called the American dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.”

I guess we can’t control some things. Try to take good self care, be loving, etc. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. And it sucks to know it isn’t guaranteed because of a country’s love of war and weapons.

As a sidebar, Gaga related, it’s really  something that she was in Indy speaking with the Dali Lama 5 years ago. It’s as if no one listens to the messages of our spiritual leaders like him. I do not comprehend how humans chose death and destruction over life and beauty and happiness. I struggle with you all in this journey of feeling helpless, hopeless, sad, angry, wanting more and wanting better for our world.

Yet another tragedy. When will it ever be enough? How many people have to die in such a brutal and unnecessary way for change to be made? Nothing is worth the devastation this causes.

The people responsible for continuously allowing this to go ahead, who lobby for gun ownership and who profit from the sales, will have their day of reckoning one day, even if it's in their last breath - they'll understand the devastation they facilitated and it will torment them.

Rest In Peace to all those who lost their lives, may their souls be in a better place now; and much love to their family and friends whose whole worlds have been torn apart.

Never stop decrying the horrors of gun violence and the illegitimacy that is gun ownership.

This is so heartbreaking, especially because it feels like this kind of thing has happened so very frequently over the last little while.

I don't get it, 2nd amendment right? It's a law. Laws were made, they can be remade, they can be changed, they can be scrapped. It's not something I'd consider a necessary right like a human right or civil and political right by any stretch of imagining. It's a killing machine. People shouldn't have these.

I don't live in America, I live in Australia, where we reformed gun ownership to the exceptional degree, though there is still some unfettered gun violence even with that in place. I wish the America would change it's ways in the proud tradition of evolution it supposedly calls it's foundation, and protect it's people by doing what is actually safe which is getting rid of these.

It doesn't help you from an invasion, they already have I think the largest military. A chaotic populace turning against an existential threat of war and arming themselves is a recipe for bad things to take place.

I can't believe Gaga still chooses to live in such craziness!

I am so desensitized. This country is so diseased. Wish it was easy to just get up and leave. This society is rotten.

I agree. What this place has become has drained all of my American pride and turned it into shame. Every day, I wish I was somewhere else.

Interesting update. I wonder what the motive was. Beef with his former employer/colleagues? General false "hard done by" attitude? We may never know
