I was introduced to him at a young age and I was almost 10 by the time the second set of child abuse allegations hit and he became the tabloid pariah again so I was spared the insanity :spin:

It was good training to ignore the press on other faves though. Not once have I doubted Britney's ability to care for herself or Gaga's genuine greatness because of some stupid headline.

But let me stop polluting your thread with stuff that doesn't add to the intended conversation :poot:

This has been one MJ fanatic's thoughts :poot:

Peace ✌️

Maybe because they know you're a fan? Idk but it definitely is one of the most iconic MJ images, in my head at least.

The people we surround ourselves with def has an impact on the topics we care about. ❤️

of all time probably Marilyn's dress, in more recent times I would say Gaga's dress :huntyga:

How does one know if something truly impacted pop culture? Honestly the only thing I see day to day leak over is Kanye “Imma let you finish...” so on those grounds I’m choosing that.

Same way your brain stores (hides) some memories and others keep popping out more often than others. They caused a bigger impact in your brain, conscious, etc. Most people only remember certain events in their lives because of the importance they have or what surrounds those memories. :kara:

I just love that you are a MJ stan, he is one of the biggest inspirations in my life and a kind soul:heart: His message trough we are the world, heal the world, man in the mirror, earth song is just so amazing and brings me so much hope, he was truly one of a kind.

My grandma introduced me to a lot of old music when I was really little and MJ is one of her favorites too. As long as I can remember, Michael has been a part of my life. I had a really rough life as a kid but he helped me find peace in the instability, happiness in the fear, and escape in hopeless situations.

I remember listening to my grandma's copy of the ET storybook (which I need to find again :bradley:), my favorite songs were Will You Be There, Someone in the Dark, and Earth Song, and I always loved how kind he was to everyone. And I guess I saw the sadness behind his eyes 'cause I felt for him. And still do.

He died when I was leaving my rocky childhood for a turbulent adolescence and it lowkey felt like I had lost a parent. It's almost like he passed the torch to Gaga though because what Michael did for me as a kid, she did for me as a teen and young adult.

Excuse me while I bawl my eyes out thinking about these two absolutely beautiful human beings :cryga: I still have a lot to work on when it comes to my own mental health and addressing my past trauma but I can honestly say, without both MJ and Gaga, I would not be here right now.

Again, apologies for the pollution :poot:

/Overly sentimental novel :poot:

I don’t mean to sound like a hater and I know I might get dragged but... I don’t consider the VMA’s kiss to be iconic :deadbanana:

MJ’s scandals, the Marilyn dress Diana’s death and OJ Simpson come to mind.

Kanye and Taylor Swift is big too because it dragged on for years. Super Bowl 2004 was too US-centric. It’s hard to judge with the the meat dress because I’m such a fan and tbh I feel like Britney’s snake is more remembered than the kiss. Also Miley’s VMA 2013 performance was big.

Zombiecat

where is Gaga bleeding at the VMAs 09 because that literally changed the future of pop performances massively

way more impact than the meat dress
