These events are just some that came to mind. They are not to meant judge rather just look at the impact they have in people´s memory as huge events in Pop Culture. These events also IMO don´t define the artists but people might think of them when the artist is brought up.

Out of all the things MJ has done to revolutionize the pop music industry :toofunny: He basically defined what it means to be a pop star :toofunny:

When people hear Michael Jackson's name, they think of the Moonwalk. The Thriller video. The 80s. The racial barriers he broke. And yeah, even the tabloid garbage or his plastic surgery (both elective and reconstructive).

But I don't know of anyone that would immediately think of that time he was admittedly reckless and stupid to have held Blanket out the window like that :messga:

But out of all the events in the OP? Probably Marilyn Monroe considering she became the poster child for the "female image" then. Her image is all over Madonna's career and therefore all over anyone Madonna has influenced, like Gaga.

But out of all the PEOPLE in the OP? Michael had the biggest impact hands down. Like, that's not even a question. Like I said, he defined pop music.

Totally agree but unfortunately his personal life, his skin color change and scandals overshadowed his artistic legacy to the point where in all honesty before his death, people recognized him more for his scandals than for his music and art. But I agree with you that he defined pop music.

Idk if that's entirely accurate. The last public thing he did (aside from announcing This Is It) was a short performance at the WMAs in 2006 and people still reacted the way they did for decades. Crying, fainting, fighting over a jacket he threw in the audience :billie:

But at the same time, I never did pay a terrible amount of attention to the public perception of MJ. He was ridiculously misunderstood and targeted for no reason. People today still believe outlandish things like he wanted his nose to look the way it did or he wanted to be white or another heinous false allegation that I'm tired of debating :toofunny:

Lowkey same :toofunny: his real name is Prince Michael Jackson II but he goes by Bigi these days.

Blanket's a cute nickname for a kid though :diane:

The balcony baby image is one of the first things that pop up in my mind when I hear Michael Jackson. It was news everywhere. It's the same as Britney's shaving incident.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

I have to agree. As I mentioned in the post: these moments don't define the artists but is more about the way people remember them.

Oof :bradley: I've never heard anyone mention it and I bring up MJ a lot.

The worst part is immediately after he did it, when he got back inside from the balcony, he was like "wtf did I just do :toofunny:". Instant regret. As he should 'cause that was honestly one of the stupidest things he's ever done :rip:

You're lucky because his misfortunes were shoved down everyone's throat in the media. Good that you kept away from it. ❤️

I was introduced to him at a young age and I was almost 10 by the time the second set of child abuse allegations hit and he became the tabloid pariah again so I was spared the insanity :spin:

It was good training to ignore the press on other faves though. Not once have I doubted Britney's ability to care for herself or Gaga's genuine greatness because of some stupid headline.

But let me stop polluting your thread with stuff that doesn't add to the intended conversation :poot:

This has been one MJ fanatic's thoughts :poot:

Peace ✌️

Maybe because they know you're a fan? Idk but it definitely is one of the most iconic MJ images, in my head at least.
