Honestly I don't feel bad for Astra Zeneca, pharmaceutics have been making tons of money during the pandemic.

They're like the 1 non-profit vaccine though :bear:

And another point is that it's definitely possible to combine different type of vaccines, this is things that are done for other disease for a long time now.

AstraZeneca is the only non-profit covid vaccine we- :bear:

On your second point I totally agree tho. Actually it can cause even higher protection if you mix

Just to explain it a bit further (cause I didn’t want to call you out or sumn, its okay not knowing that). Governments buy AstraZeneca for production price, in return governments take the liability for it. Which in my eyes is kinda the reason why there is such drama about Astra. There were blood clotting cases with Pfizer too, nobody is talking about it tho.

Also obviously they don’t respect the deliverys anymore. Why would they the way they are treated by the EU? Actually a lot of countries in Europe hold back the vaccines they have in stock but also forbid AstraZeneca the export in other countries (who really need it). So fair enough, Astra is not to blame on this story

Ah yes sure but they still did make a tons of money during the pandemic. The pharmaceutic sector was in overall growth last year despite vaccine were not out yet.

are you sure about this ? Because in Europe we're being told that the UK, the US blocks the exportation of vaccines while Europe exported vaccines worldwide. They juste started to limit exportation two weeks ago as a consequence of not receiving vaccines from other countries.

Yeah, I mean, it sure is also because of the US blocks. But atm it is 0 ethic of the EU to hold the vaccine back even if it isn’t used a lot. I hate to hae THAT card all the time in vaccine threads but I work at our lical health department, also managing the vaccine campaign in the city and in my eyes there is no reason we hold it back.

I’m confused on that one tho? :oprah: You can’t put every company under the same hat. AstraZeneca definitely made 0 coins thx to the pandemic

Some of my friends got AstraZeneca at the beginning of March and the German government made similar statement as France - now my friends are debating to not get their second shot at all (they're all young women, so most of them don't want to take a chance with AstraZeneca again either).

Well Astra Zeneca had a turnover of 24 Bn $ in 2020 and a turnover of 21 Bn in 2019.. If 3 Bn growth is no coin...

But let's not start a debate. Of course it's not ethic to hold back vaccine, however we had a lot of supply issues in Europe, we are still in lockdown and don't have enough vaccines while the US and the UK have been massively vaccinated. I feel like it was unfair to keep sending them vaccines while they were not doing the same.

I live in the EU too btw :D I understand where you come from but I think the biggest mistakes were made by the EU and trying to find someone to blame for ut is exactly what politics want. They messed up and they have to stand for the mistakes they did.

I’m from germany too and got AstraZeneca. Well I’m not a woman but if it helps you can tell them that mixing vaccine actually can cause a even higher immunity then one alone :) I don’t care which shot I get next, I would take every vaccine that is offered to me, Biontech, Moderna, Astra, J&J, Sputnik. I fully trust our scientist. And in the end all decisions made until now where made by politics

Yeah and it's false, Veran is a moron, they're all clowns in the government

This is what I say since a long time. We should stop listening to politics. All they care about is money and their decisions are based on money. You’re a fool if you think the N1 priority is to get the vaccine through.

If we would listen to scientist there wouldn’t be a single debate about any vaccine

Sounds too cynical but I think they not just care about money they care about their career, reelection, their future plans etc they also seem to be living in a bubble with no understand of real life . They are pissing me off

The EU has made a right mess of this, and are now firing shots all over the place and changing the rules all the time. According to them the number of people getting seriously unwell is far greater than the risk from using either AZ or J&J vaccines

No medication is 100% safe, there are side effects  to using contraceptive pills, anti depressants etc yet people continue to use them.
