brunothesinger 127
I was listening to Chromatica as per usual but I recently noticed how much Gaga relies on metaphors to write her music. This is not a criticism or anything, just a curious observation from the point of view of a songwriter who relies on more literal lyrics (me). For instance: 1. Alice - "my name isn't Alice but I'll keep looking for Wonderland" 2. Rain On Me - "water like misery" 3. 911 - "pop a 911" "patch the line" etc 4. Plastic Doll - "am I plastic? plastic doll" 5. Sour Candy - "i'm sour candy" 6. Enigma - "I'll be your enigma" 7. 1000 Doves - "I'll be flying like a thousand doves" etc I find it all very interesting! She's a lot of things on this album: a plastic doll, a sour candy, an enigma... Any other metaphors, figures of speech or things you've guys noticed as well? - bruno the singer

Leo 3,000
Flying like a thousand doves is a simile though I kid, but yeah Gaga uses language like this a lot in her work, and very well

Mother of Puppies 36,231
This is why I love her songwriting so much... and if you haven't noticed, she also does this in interviews to describe things, which I think is pretty interesting and cool! She's a poet Maybe "Perfect Ilusion" "Oh, you were a perfect illusion" and "High like amphetamine" and also "Alejandro" "Hot like Mexico, rejoice" THEY CALL ME LADY MOP
Mother of Puppies 36,231
This line from Bad Romance is something I have never fully understood: "I want your leather studded kiss in the sand." Now what does that mean? What is a "leather studded kiss"? and why in the sand? THEY CALL ME LADY MOP
