The Contradiction of 'Music Not the Bling'

I strongly disagree. People are not holding onto just that 1 line in a song. Gaga has done plenty of interviews throughout the years where she openly stated how she did not want to become a brand, a money making machine, etc. People aren’t mad because she does brand deals, ppl are confused and frustrated that she does them yet turns around and says something completely contradictory to her actions. She discontinued her amazing perfumes because of that exact reason yet has since gone on to do partnerships that are way too expensive for the average person or aren’t as creative or innovative. And yes, product placement and brand deals have always been a thing for her but she has always allowed music to overshadow it. Yet this past year, she doesn’t even make an effort to dilute her insta page with her new album or personal posts. Nobody can deny she focused more on partnerships this year than she did with chromatica. Not to mention her prices are insanely expensive and the products and service from her store are horrendous. It’s better just to custom make your own gaga clothing at this point for better service, quality and design.

because many of those partnerships were made before the pandemic came and we don't know exactly how she felt during the pandemic and with her family member being sick etc. ... so she didn't want to post much about her music and private life as she used to, cuz she may have had some personal issues that she didn't want to share with the world...

but she had to post those "ads" because she signed a contract long before the pandemic. It's just that usually u wouldn't notice those ads so much because there used to be many "private" posts in between-.--- she has just posted very little in the last months...

And I bet something was goin' on in her private life that she (maybe) will share with us (the world) some day...

1. That is simply not true, if you scroll back to the release week/month/year, all she posted about was Chromatica, Rain On Me, 911, VMAs etc.

2. Instagram IS for selling products. Why are you acting like "her Insta page" is representative of who she is as an artist?

3. Although I can't confirm this 100%, I'm 99.99% sure she doesn't even log in to her social media accounts and all of her posts (including the personal ones) are made by someone else.

And frankly that's how it should be -- imagine working 2 years on one of your most successful and acclaimed albums, spending months on photoshoots, interviews, music videos, etc, and then going to your comment section and reading that you are a sell out that doesn't care about their work.

No she didn't, and no, she didn't literally mean that she hated selling perfumes.

Harassing an artist online isn't an opinion. It is stupid nonsense.

kinda sad the administrator accepts and let other users say different opiniones are stupid nonsense. no is not ok to harrasing an artist, but also is not bad to have a different opinion and to not like all of the things your favorite artist do.

kindest regards

You can keep your "stupid nonsense" and other adjectives to refer to any opinion that doesn't align with yours as you dare to make whole statements while ironically calling anybody not agreeing with you "little manager", people take that phrase literally because she's referred to it at its literal sense, exactly as when she said she hated selling perfumes, released not one but two, then started collaborating with oreo and luxury brand such as tudor and don perignon.

we love her and that's why we are in a LADY GAGA FORUM, but you don't need to eat everything she sh*ts off up, there's a difference between admiration and being a cult fanatic, guess you know which one you're closer to at this moment, but hey, you do you! just be respectful with anybody with a minimum of critical sense, you can have it and still support gaga regarding her music and acting career without buying 130€ sweaters, 0,20 cent soaps sold for 10-20€, jockstraps, and anything else her team puts out to bleed her own fans out.

edit: and honestly i'd close this thread because it's going nowhere, there will be fights and insults and we can already tell that the synthesis is that: people will buy whatever they want, of course, and there are grades of fanatism/admiration, some will buy it all up because they're blind or they just choose to, some are just collectors, and some of us are just disappointed because we see the incongruence at what she's been standing up for in the past and what she's become nowadays, sadly.

Bye. See you in your next dupe loser :lmao:

I think Little Managers take this line way too seriously sometimes.

It's just a line in a song. This was also eight years ago. We say things at certain points in our lives that shift and change over time.

Like literally why are people arguing about this? LMAO just listen to Chromatica and have a good time, don't take things so seriously, and stop being negative with each other, y'all!

Because that's what you all are. I even go further and say that most of the gay men on this site who think they have a right to criticize Lady Gaga's career are simply misogynists, plain and simple. You are all just jealous because she isn't coddling you 24/7 like she used to, and I live for it. As a result, you all think you're being edgy by offering "critiques" when you're really just being vile individuals. In the last three years she released some of the best music of her career, has won countless awards, and continued to cement herself as one of the greatest artists of all time, yet it's not enough.

It's cool to not like the ventures she goes into outside of music but please be quite complaining and questioning her authenticity all the time. Some men just cannot stand to see a successful woman and it shows all the time here. But I shouldn't be too shocked, we have racists and transphobes here, so the fact there are hidden misogynists shouldn't shock me.  I really wish the Haus would step in and threatened to sue this forum for the amount of anti-Gaga slander that is thrown around here so often, it's vomit inducing.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

Harassing an artist is not the same as having different opinion. You can form your own thoughts and react differently - like most of people here in GGD do. No one will ban/give you WP .

But implying that Gaga is a sell out and a fraud/scammer is too much. :huntyga:

This is the opposite of what little managers do. They complain and throw tantrums like angry spoiled teenagers who apparently have to escape their sad realities by being “fed” from a lady gaga album rollout = era. They are very sad individuals who need to seek help asap

I agree with what you said but that doesn’t cover how she contradicts herself or how all the products seem to be so out of reach for the average person

I think people forget that Gaga said at SXSW that she has no problem doing brand deals as long as it's a collaboration and the brands don't stifle her creative vision. That's why she was allowed to vomit all over the stage right under the Doritos logo. Her having an issue with perfume (and it was only the second one, because she was contracted to it in order to get the first one released) and things like Kia Soul was because those deals were made behind her back, in particular the infamous "Applause" hamster commercial, while she was still in the hospital bed recovering from her hip injury when Troy hadn't even visited her.

We got the "Stupid Love" video because of her collaboration with Apple; "Rain On Me" video because of Adobe; "911" video because of Lamborghini and LG; Oreo designed a cookie and its packaging after Chromatica, and Dom Perignon is very much continuing that trend of tying other brands into the album and also working with the Born This Way Foundation. So it's not just her senselessly throwing her name at anything for some quick cash, everything has served the purpose of giving us more content for Chromatica. She never once mentioned anything about accessibility to my knowledge. Of course there could be more in terms of performances and fan interaction, but it is what it is.

Then buy your $1 oreos. Its not her fault people are poor, nor does she need to appeal to them :awkney:

Honey if you cannot afford some Oreos you really need to re-evaluate your life :smh: And please, the same people complaining about $100 bottles of champagne or Tudor watches have no issue throwing hundreds of dollars at mediocre album merchandise. Get a grip.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.
