I DISAGREE!  Trump was an existential threat to this country & should have been silenced! ...And since we live in a capitalistic country & Twitter is a private company. They can ban (permanently) anyone they won’t, weather you like it or not?!  :koons:

I get it though in principle, even if Trump is a nightmare.

People need the opportunity to learn to be critical thinkers rather than have opinions silenced.

We shouldn't be so tribal in our politics. Democracies are about people, so our decisions should be discussed without cancel culture shaming people nor without making directly inflammatory comments that are discriminatory and stereotypical.

Twitter unfortunately isn't the best place to do this as nobody listens to opposing views.

The only way Trump can be on Twitter is if Twitter makes special terms of service for him because Trump can't control himself.

That's a ridiculous take, he wasn't silenced, he was removed from a platform because of his own refusal to follow the rules and was given more chances than any other member.

You either have rules or you have no rules.

Exactly. He was a troll. But it is also Twitter's fault by design that nowadays people don't know how to discuss ideas. I can see Bernie's point tho.

My biggest fear is his threat of releasing new social media that will call the alt right while advocating for the lost "freedom of speech".

It's still shocking to me to see how a former President of the USA was banned by most social media....like, this shouldn't never happen again.

He literally disobeyed the Twitter guidelines so many times. Any normal account would’ve been suspended within days.

I mean if anything they removed him wayyy tooo late. It's like looking at a burning house and say ok we'll turn off the stove.

Nah, Twitter has rules. They bent the rules long enough for that steaming turd :laughga:

It'd be different if Twitter was a government owned entity but we still live in capitalist America. The free market exists and social media sites are private businesses entitled to basically doing whatever they want. If someone disobeys their TOS, they lose their right to use that platform. It's that simple.

I think the ban was more necessary when he was president, which they didn't really do, but I'm not mad about him being banned. Literally haven't heard about him in forever for the most part

Nah he’s right. The funniness of the ban aged like milk. Look at the material results... Now Trump is about to make his own social media and his stans are gonna exist in a neo nazi echo chamber to radicalize and probably plan the next insurrection. Twitter has its rules, but you cant silence a powerful cultist with tens of millions of fans.

Y’all tried to remove the beehive without smoking the bees, and now you have an angry swarm all over the place... good job

so do you want the rules to not apply to him, or what should happen when, 15 minutes in, he does something that would get anyone else banned?

Twitter is better without him, and if you think his social media company is going to succeed, then you must be one of these people who bought into this ridiculous idea that trump is much more powerful than he actually is.

He's a loser, his supporters are losers - they're just slow at figuring it out.  Twitter is better without him and the idea that we should bow down and tolerate his childish behaviour and egregious disregard for the rules out of fear of what he might do next is silly in my opinion.

" oh no, if we don't allow him to be the only person who can do whatever he wants, he might start his own and then we'll all be sorry."  Please, stop giving him so much credit.

Stop focusing on the “ban”. It’s irrelevant. Do you think Presidents never communicated to their people before the internet? He’s literally choosing to lay low. Twitter’s impact on his silence from media is so small: he’s not a constant and present threat anymore so that explains most of the silence.

The only metric of success I care about is the success of his echo chamber to further radicalize his supporters. Idk what youre on about. If he can dogwhistle his fans to raid the capitol, he can get them to use a website 😭

And idk why you’re trying to mock that point. Ever heard of Parker and Gab? Ever read the shite people type on there? It’s already happening.

At least with twitter, you had actual smart people there to directly come for the president and his fan’s stupid tweets. Imagine thinking they’re gonna let anyone to the left of Lisa Murkowski in their space...
