imnotyourbabe10 6,120 Posted March 25, 2021 Share Posted March 25, 2021 Some clarification pieces per Reuters (https://www.reuters.com/article/northkorea-missiles/update-3-north-korea-fires-at-least-two-suspected-missiles-into-the-sea-idUSL1N2LM3GE) Tests happened this last weekend, too: "Over the weekend North Korea fired two short-range cruise missiles, U.S. and South Korean officials said, but Biden played down the those tests as “business as usual” and officials in Washington said they were still open to dialogue with Pyongyang." "North Korea has been angered by recent joint U.S.-South Korean exercises even though they were scaled back in an effort to get nuclear talks restarted. The administration’s North Korea policy review is in its “final stages” and would host the national security advisers of allies Japan and South Korea next week to discuss that, senior U.S. officials said on Wednesday." It also sounds like North Korea hasn't been in touch with the US much in the last year -- regardless of Trump or Biden. Not trying to downplay this -- but it seems normal for them. At the same time, some Reddit comments sounded like NK has a pretty decent arsenal of nukes (including long-range/could hit the US west coast), so we should take them seriously. Korea is unpredictable because they don’t seem to have any long term plan other than maintaining independence under dictatorship.
