Why are people panicking? This is incredibly  normal for a virus and was expected for a very long time.

Ok yeah I'm sorry but it's time to close every single borders of every country in the world and to ban travel everywhere, seriously or we'll never end this nightmare. If no one abides by it, put them to jail, let's finisht his once and for all, no trains, no airplanes, no boats coming and going, everyone stay in their country and don't move. Then everyone helps India with hospital, medication etc that's an idealized version of what Id like to happen but technically impossible so yeah we are ****ing ****ed in the ass again & maybe we will all die who knows

Ever since I heard first news from China my reaction was - close the damn airports before it’s too late. They didn’t. And here we are :/

All this virus need is to mutate to the point vaccines are not effective and we are back to square one... And by the looks of it, this scenario is not impossible.

I am shocked to see the number of people still traveling for vacation purposes... Kike how can you be that dumb

I've got an "F" and a "C" and I got a "K" too And the only thing that is missing is a bitch like "U"

They just said this variant will not work with vaccine

If the variant is really new & just emerging, how can they definitively say that every vaccine currently being used won’t be at all effective against it? We can’t close our borders each time this virus mutates in my opinion. It’s just not feasible. Countries need to adapt to it, like Australia & NZ have for example.

I think I’ve already accepted this disease will become endemic. Maybe all we can do is improve our healthcare systems’ capacities, get as many new vaccines for variants rolling every year, and just get on with our lives. I see no way out of this. The virus has already spread too much.

this so much! at this point there's barely anything we can do but hope for the best, it's been a year, we've tried lockdowns and didn't work

we still have to maintain physical distancing, wearing a mask and avoid crowds as much as possible tho :jase:

I agree but Australia & NZ had the benefit of being so far from every other continent. Also they said in the article it doesn't seem to be vulnerable to vaccines, so idk if it's fearmongering because I remember before when they said the brazilian variant would change everything about vaccines right now and it doesn't seem like it did, although it increased deaths and kept the cycle going all over the world. I think countries need to bet on the Johnson vaccine that attacks every variant but also future potential variants

I think it’s going to be a long 12 months.. the results of the current vaccines are still somewhat inconclusive. I just hope they establish some form of herd immunity so that the death rate is curbed no matter the variant.

This is the natural path of viruses and disease. They mutate to survive. COVID is endemic. It's not going to go anywhere and it's not going to magically poof away. We have to learn to live with it just like we've learned to live with other potentially deadly diseases like influenza, pneumonia, etc.
