This is in addition to other UK, South African and Brazilian variants of the virus already circulating in 18 states of the country. The new virus strain having two mutations, government indicated, is highly infectious and has a potential to skip the immunity developed either by natural infection or vaccines. The development emerges as a cause of serious worry for government, as a second wave of the covid-19 pandemic is looming large in the country which has already vaccinated over 50 million people against the disease. I really had a great day today until I watched the news.... what if this mutant will spread and no vaccine will be effective against it? What then? Do you think that will happen? If no one abides by it, put them to jail, let's finisht his once and for all, no trains, no airplanes, no boats coming and going, everyone stay in their country and don't move. It doesn't matter if your entire country is vaccinated, if a resistant strain pops up anywhere in the world everyone is f-ed. World leaders need to stop acting like every country is entirely autonomous and that their selfish actions won't come back to bit everyone in the a**. Our state is like 10% vaccinated and yet as of this past week we're increasing indoor capacity at restaurants and shops, allowing 400 person events, etc. I don't understand why we are rushing when we're so close to getting people vaccinated, especially when the more people spread it, the better chance it has to mutate and evolve.
