If pollution truly will lead to higher rates of infertility in the future then >> this will lead to less people being born >> population growth will plateau/fall >> less people on the planet would help reduce pollution/carbon emissions >> the earth will have time to heal >> eventually fertility rates will rise again

Current population is a reflection of the past. From what I know, China's pop boomed from approx. 500m to the current 1.4b due to natality incentives by Mao and the CCP in the 50s, 60s and 70s. The accelerated development only started after Mao's death and the reforms of Deng Xiaoping, so pollution probably only played a role in fertility's decline later.

Likewise, but in the opposite direction, 28 years of one child policy + rapid economic growth and the inclusion of women in the workforce are set to bring about a decline to about 800m people in 2100, according to a recent article published on lancet (Fertility, mortality, migration, and population scenarios for 195 countries and territories from 2017 to 2100: a forecasting analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study - The Lancet - just google this and read it for free). This is one of the reasons why China needs to keep growing as fast as possible right now - they have a sharp populational shift waiting for them in a few decades, all due to present and past policies and trends.

I think the issue is the way it was phrased as a stereotype. 

It would have been better phrased along something like "this explains why Chinese men have smaller penises on average" and connect it to their country's high pollution rates vs. saying all Chinese men have small penises as a fact because that is not factually true. There are still Chinese men with huge dongs out there, just going to be more rare.
