Edit: Also, I’m by no means saying I’m anti-mask, I actually wish more people would wear them and follow guidelines so we can just be out of this already and stop wearing them. Some politians in Germany are talking about keeping the social distancing and masks for a very long time or even forever, because a part of the population will not get vaccinated (because they don't want to) and otherwise it would be "unfair"... and then I am asking myself: why the hell are we doing all this **** then? We are vaccinating because we want this pandemic to come to an end, so we can live normal again without having to wear masks all the time and without distancing from one another, because we are human. (which has anyways always been a big issue in our modern society - there is still so much shame and embarassment to it anyways and this pandemic is worsening that - my mental health has quite frankly, since this all started, gone down the drain) So many are forgetting that we will still, even with being vaccinated, get the Corona virus... but the ultimate goal was that this would be no worse than a normal flu... so if I get Covid and just get a bit sick, but I don't have to go to hospital or die from it, what's the big deal? What we want is to prevent severe illness and death. Will people continue to die from COVID? YES. Nothing is perfect. Will everyone get vaccinated? NO. With 70-80% of people vaccinated in certain areas we will be fine. The goal is to make COVID something as common as the flu or cold with a relatively small number of deaths. The thing is right now we still have to have that lockdown, because numbers are rising again with the variants, but what's driving me insane is that all those little shops, restaurants, hotels, cafès etc. have been closed for months now and they can't survive much longer... our government forbids them to reopen, but they actually do allow people to fly to Spain for holidays and when they return they don't have to take a test or quarantine... like wtf is wrong with our country?! We have vaccinated 3,9% of the population... our government is an embarassment! I don't even know what to say... they have invented the vaccine here, but our government hasn't ordered enough or in time... so we don't have enough vaccine... and then there is our bureaucracy which is always in the way. I can tell ya, this is what prevents us from vaccinating. This is so typical german. If it weren't that serious I could laugh about it. I’m not attacking the Doctor, I’m coming for OP and the media in general. The media needs to stop pushing the “nothing will fundamentally change” narrative with the vaccines.
