Oh well, long answer short, No one and especially NOT a group of people, just because they have the numbers, should EVER dictate and act like they have a right to school what an artist CAN make their art about. It's not about THEM, this is Lana's body of work, she decides. Imagine being Lana in some of this and her situation. Also, she is a female and these people coming for her want to proclaim themselves as champions of women's rights and feminists issues, whilst publicly bullying and shaming her.

Lana should not change for them, she should write what she wants and if people don't like it and it rubs them the wrong way, there are numerous other artists that they can choose to listen to and support instead.

Notice that hardly anyone ever accuses a male artist of being shallow or not having much to say? But its thrown constantly at female artists? Which is funny because when it comes to artists who are  clearly in it for the money and glory, I think of male artists. Women have to work so much harder to get to where they want in life so when they make it in the music business, one of the hardest businesses to make it, it's usually down to hard work and deep-rooted passion for music. It's probably why most of my favourite artists are female - they have to work so much harder to create good art to be taken seriously. Men can just throw out the same track over and over and the critics and the public eat it up, no one's ever demanding he should change, evolve, give us something new. But female artists are criticised if they stay the same in any way. It's like Taylor Swift said in her documentary, the female artists she knows have reinvented themselves far more than any male artist, they have to, otherwise, they're out of a job. Females have to prove with every album that they are worthy of their fame and acclaim but male artists seem so much more relaxed and I don't see endless thought pieces criticising their style of art springing up all over the place like I see for female artists.

I honestly thought that in this MeToo age that more critics would be realising what a victim of abuse has been through and how they cope with the aftermath of their trauma. Artists put their pain into music, this has been the way since the dawn of time. It stands to reason that abuse victims may choose to express their pain in music that may be a bit eyebrow-raising to listeners, but it's their coping mechanism. Look at Gaga with DWUW. Yet we call these women bad role models but weirdly forget about all the songs from male artists that we've praised that involves them singing about being a bad boyfriend, making selfish decisions, calling women derogatory names, even exhibiting stalker behaviour and having very concerning attitudes towards sex. We care so much about who girls look up to but not who boys look up to. I mean, I love a lot of The Weeknd's music but I won't deny that it sounds like he has a lot of issues in the realm of dating and recreational drug use but critics love him and I've never seen one article saying that his music displays worrying views (though I have the foresight to realise that, like many artists, he exaggerates to tell a good story and to give the public what they want). Funnily enough, he worked with Lana because their styles certainly have similarities and notice how one has had no end of criticism and gets called wannabe deep but the other gets critical praise and is even being held up as the next big legend. Guess which one's the man and which is the woman? As if you needed the answer provided.

Lana Del Rey is already gearing up to drop her eighth album Rock Candy Sweet, and she’s tying some of her past controversy into it.

The singer announced the forthcoming arrival of her new project on Saturday, which has a June 1 due date. Rock Candy Sweet follows the release of her latest album Chemtrails Over The Country from Friday. Del Rey also took to her Instagram Story to discuss that the album will “challenge” cultural appropriation and romanticizing domestic abuse, two things she has been accused of perpetuating.

Alongside a screenshot of a Harper’s Bazaar article titled “Lana Del Rey Can’t Qualify Her Way Out Of Being Held Accountable,” Del Rey wrote, “Just want to say thank you again for the kind articles like this one and for reminding me that my career was built on cultural appropriation and glamorizing domestic abuse.”

She added, “I will continue to challenge those thoughts on my next record June 1 titled Rock Candy Sweet.”

I couldnt imagine not being able to appreciate her wonderful orchestral/ alternative productions with her beautiful and metaphorical lyricism. She is one of the most authentic artists out there but I guess it takes smart ears to understand that. That remix is the most basic thing of her career and the fact it’s your fav says a lot. She doesn’t deserve to be cancelled, she deserves to be heard for what she actually means without people being hypersensitive. If you actually listen to and read what she has said in the past few years she means good. The media twists her words and paints her out to be a bitch but she’s not and she’s very mature and handles things very well
