I saw this movie years ago and it broke my heart. It broke my heart for the protagonist and wife. I disliked the guy he protagonist goes to the city for. Lovely movie with a sad ending. Very complex in the fact that it talks about homosexuality in an Orthodox Jewish society.

It depicts with such realism what the character goes through (interpreted by a trans woman herself). Extremely well done movie.

It is so cute and it has happy ending. My favorite for sure: This Brazilian movie is a gem.

Genet or Fassbinder were one of a kind. They understood their queerness as a political way of going beyond the law, the tradition, the bourgeoisie... Not like the politically correct kind of films that constantly put LGBT people as victims. Films like Call me by your name (no chemistry at all between those straight morons) or Gods own country, make me want to vomit My Own Private Idaho left me hating Reeves' character! gag 22,449
YESSS Maurice is one of my favourite movies of all time. The fact the book was written when homosexuality was still illegal AND the movie came out at the height of the AIDS crisis. It’s such a beautiful symbol of perseverance and unabashed queer love in the midst of social danger. Scudder is one of my favourite characters from any movie ever. Other than Maurice, I also love Pain & Glory (gay) and Portrait of a Lady on Fire (lesbian). All period movies should be gay. Every single one. headspin, happiness, DE̤̣A̢̯͔̘T͏͙̗̟̫H̗̙͡ͅ
