Native Americans' ancestors crossed over from Asia and settled farther South so their skin became a kind of copper-ish color which is just a little different from the skin color of the people who ended up settling in Central and South America. Genetic anthropology is interesting we're all descendants of dark skin Africans technically. Some of our heritages just took detours and ended up looking a little different along the way.
