During the VLive, all the members comforted their fans, telling them not to be disappointed. The members were rather worried that their fans were disappointed. The members explained it was an honor to have a solo stage performance at the Grammys. On this day, leader RM explained to fans why the group was not able to receive the award. He explained, "The reason we weren't able to win is, I think many of you probably expect this, but we took it as them telling us to come and get the award in person." The Grammys are an English language show which naturally means they are going to focus on English language music (or Spanish language music, as there is such a huge percentage of Spanish speakers in the US). I saw people trying to compare it to Minari, but Minari is a movie about Koreans in America even if the cast is Korean and Korean American and they speak largely in Korean. And it clearly wasn't just about showing up, either. IMO it's not comparable to someone like Nas getting continually screwed over or Beyonce getting snubbed in the major categories again and again, so those comparisons made me cringe hard. Also, they absolutely enable their fans. At least Bey, Gaga, Miley, etc. have called their fans out once in a while. People give the KPop stan base, particularly the BTS stans, a pass because of the anti Trump stuff but the BTS fans can be incredibly vile to the point they make monsters and hive look tame. Repetitive, meaningless bops are great (like Poker Face) but only if they actually sound good (like Poker Face).
