So I don't get it he isn't rich enough to mention even tho he pays his employees less. Which actually leads to a bigger wealth gap and income inequality. Also Jeff already announced he is stepping down as Amazon CEO. So what's the point he will no longer be responsible for employee salaries. Also unions aren't free sis and if you decide to not join or resign as a member from a union it comes with penalties and sometimes you still have to continue making agency fee payments which is often the same amount as dues to the union as a condition of keeping your job. So yes, acompany that requires you to make membership payments even though you aren't even a member is pretty much corrupt. But I'm not saying ALL unions operate like this. So yeah, unions are people too but their policies depend on the context they're in. If you create a union in a racist, xenophobic place, obviously their members will be racist and xenophobic. I mean i doubt minimum wage alone is what this is about so the fact that amazon already meets the $15/h threshold doesnt mean Bezos isnt worried about other stuff he will bring up about inequality or how ppl are treated That being i dont think ur TOTALLY wrong about being the punching bag thing. Ppl make political symbols out of things and then that particular thing or person gets disproportionate attention because its the trendy symbol Its like the Keystone pipeline. Theres countless pipelines on many areas and to support many projects. But it became this symbol of either an economic boom (for those in favour) or global environmental collapse (for those opposed) while other simmilar damaging projects in scope get ignored because they didnt happen to become a trendy political symbol In reality both positives ane negatives are kinda blown out of proportion but its sensationalized because of how politicized it became Bezos is the richest billionaire on and off (i know rankings fluctuate) of a super well known company. It's the working conditions that are the issue there, I believe. Bezos doesn't really get his money directly from his salary as CEO anyway, that's only at $80k or something. But he makes total bank on Amazon shares and abusing workers to drive productivity and profit up makes those shares so valuable that a man with an $80k salary is the richest person alive. It would be nice for Bernie to call on the Walton family and Doug McMillon (whose base salary is $1,276,892 compared to a Walmart employee's average salary of $25k-$30k). He should also call the CEOs of really any fast food or retail chain to discuss CEO salary vs employee salary and Bezos should be required to show too to discuss what I mentioned above.
