Actors who portrayed real-life people

This is obviously a reaction to certain debates about whether Gaga should have met and studied Patrizia for her role in the House of Gucci.

I personally think, most of the time when actors play a real-life person, they may not meet and talk to the people they are playing if they're still alive. They may study interviews and documentaries etc. The best source may be from the person themselves but depending on the story of the movie, they may be biased in recounting their experience. So it's up to the actor on how to approach the role.

Below is a list of some actors portraying real-life people in movies or tv series. You will notice from the way the real-life people react to the depiction, some high profile actors may not have approach their subject personally before making the movie. There could be some legit reason why they decided not to study their subject directly in person.

In this case, Patrizia Reggiani of 2021 IT'S NOT THE SAME woman who Gaga is playing right now. The 2021 Patrizia did 17 years of prison and that of course changed her, Gaga is playing a different person. There is literally 0 sense for Gaga to reach out to her (and let's not forget she's a murderer but little monsters are stupid and we been knew).

I think it was cool how Leonardo DiCaprio portrayed Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street (really incredible film, by the way), and then at the end the actual Jordan Belfort made a cameo with Leonardo’s version of him.

Exactly, the only people who should approach Patrizia are the writers, just to get more details that the general public might not be aware of.

Gaga meeting Patrizia would only make her biased by creating some kind of empathy between them. Humans (especially Gaga) have the tendency to be empathetic towards even the most evil people in the world if they meet them in person in a controlled and "friendly" environment. That's the reason so many people talk crap online and then turn into puppies when they actually meet the people they are talking about.

This. Gaga owes Patricia nothing.

I have a feeling that the fans here are making their opinions based on Gaga's decision. Gaga didn't meet Patrizia, so now that was the right thing to do, and if she HAD met with her, it would have been the right thing to do and people would come up with compliments for the meeting :teehee:

I don't think Gaga absolutely needed to meet her, but I do think she could have approached her in order to understand the motivation behind the crime. Sometimes I hear actors talking about how they kind of need to justify to their mind why they are acting so mad (when they are playing any kind of villain). Some actors need a justification for the behaviour of their character. But I think Gaga's fine and I understand why she wasn't interested in doing so.

Yea, the point I was trying to make is that it's ok for an actor to go either way depending on how they wanna approach a role.
