She's always knwon the royal family, I think she was always interested in them, well at least Princess Diana. That alone shows that she lies when she says that she had no idea who Harry was. This doesnt take away the fact that it could be true and the royal family did say horrible things like "Wonder what skin color Archie will be". I wouldn't put it past the RF to be a bit racist, the sole fact that they protect Pedo Andrew shows the toxicity. However, to me most of it just seems like a family argument, and there are always two sides to every story. We will likely not get to hear the royal family's side of the story because they don't really get involved in things like this, and that's why I think it was a bit poor of Harry and Meghan to take it so public, embarrassing the queen and the monarchy.
