It's a simple majority but Manchin wouldn't have voted for this anyways. So the VP takes the heat and the appearance of party unity is still there. I will definitely support any progressive candidate over him because Manchin is only a Democrat by name and nothing else. So if the progressives on here have a name and where to send donations, I'll be happy to do it. This is the way instead of burning everything to the ground.

If you progressives want more progressive policies find a way to primary Manchin and I forget the name of the other crappy senator out because VP Harris is literally taking one for the team.

Just to be clear, this isn't about the tiebreak. It's about the special process in which the federal budget is passed (which is immune to filibuster and only needs a simple majority), and the parliamentarian ruled that the minimum wage bill can't be snuck in bc it's not relevant enough to the budget.

This is about norms. If Kamala broke the rule, Republicans would turn around and pass every bill they wanted under reconciliation. They sought SO MUCH revenge for Obama using this to pass the ACA (no liberal federal judges confirmed for like 6 years). There are consequences to breaking norms. 

Yeah you can be pissed about this but let's not pretend like it's a no-brainer to break the rules.
