Bradley 58,082 Posted February 20, 2021 Share Posted February 20, 2021 Now that Chromatica is semi-over, she has much more time to focus on other areas she's interested in: the jazz project with Tony Bennett, which I think is very likely to receive critical acclaim, maybe even more so than Cheek to Cheek, and maybe win another Grammy. I can't speak about the commercial performance because it depends on how much she promotes it, and we know how extensive Cheek to Cheek was promoted, but her public image right now is arguably the best in her entire career (owing to ASIB, Joanne, her philanthropic efforts like curating OneWorld, her work with the BTW foundation with Channel Kindness, her positive and influential role in politics (Biden inauguration, speaking for the BLM movement, and also Chromatica being the most critically acclaimed pop album of hers that united both more traditionally conservative and progressive fans), so it might be easier to gain commercial traction from fans and the GP than Cheek to Cheek did. 2021 will be the year Gaga continues to cement her status as a serious actor. Of course she has already established that with award-winning/nominated roles like Ally Maine in A Star Is Born, and The Countess and Scathach from American Horror Story, but 2021 will catapult her acting reputation to further heights. Then of course we have the movie that is already generating Oscar buzz - Gucci. I mean, just look at the cast: Gaga, Driver, Pacino, De Niro, Leto, Irons, directed by Ridley Scott, this is literally Oscar magnet. The best part is she's actually LEADing the movie. Of course Adam Driver is a lead actor as well but in comparison to A Star Is Born, which was much more evenly spread between Cooper and Gaga (and that's a wise decision because they had to build their chemistry), this movie is actually more about Gaga's character than Driver's. The only department I'm worried about is writing, because the writers don't seem to have an extensive catalogue, but if everything is done right, including campaigning, this could be Gaga's first Best Actress Oscar. The thing is she doesn't stop there, she probably has shot or will shoot some action-oriented scenes on top of the dramatic Gucci in Bullet Train. She's associating herself with renowned actors left and right and we will see Brad Pitt and Gaga on screen together in an action blockbuster, further showcasing her versatility in acting: Will it end there? Are these the only acting roles Gaga will offer in 2021? Maybe. But I actually think she will give more than that. Ryan Murphy is shooting 16 stand-alone episodes of American Horror Stories, which would invite AHS veterans. I honestly cannot imagine Ryan writing 16 episodes without asking Gaga to lead ONE episode. It'd be a crime if that happened. This is perfect for Gaga since it doesn't require a lot of investment and yet is able to bring Gaga back into the AHS universe, and Ryan's pilot seasons are always better than his subsequent ones, so I believe AHStories will be more acclaimed than your regular AHS season. And it'd be fun for Gaga to be part of it. Who knows she might get a Guest Actress Emmy nomination. Once all these are released, she will be more 'tricon' than ever. I'm pretty sure she'll do something new that is completely unrelated to these and continue to surprise us.
