Following the disastrous Trump presidency we need bold moves from Biden, or the public will lose faith in the Democratic party. Sorry, but don't run for president if you are not up for the task of being the most progressive president in modern times, we need it more than we have in decades. Isn't he progressively increasing the minimum wage year-over-year until the 2025 goal though? I'm not excusing him, and yes he could be a lot bolder, but remember that a president is not all-mighty and there's an insanely corrupt and bureaucratic system to go through to approve anything in the US. The system is rigged. It's so bad that you can't even convict a proven criminal who tried to overtake democracy in front of everyone. Besides that, even though he's a "democrat", he's still very much right-leaning and conservative when you compare him with the rest of the world leaders in developed countries. Actually, he'd be considered right-wing in most of Europe. Bernie would be the closest (popular) thing to a left-wing candidate that there was in recent years. Biden made it through the primary with big help from Obama, and the other candidates dropping out simultaneously to get Bernie out of the race, and even after that he won the presidency with slim margins in many key states. He needs to be a lot bolder considering we had Bernie as the close second in who the public wanted to face Trump. There is bureaucracy, but Biden needs to realize that unless he is BOLD the Democratic Party may lose the slim majorities and make the rest of his presidency even more of an uphill battle. The stimulus package is in Reconciliation and will probably be passed sometime in late February/early May. A minimum wage increase can’t be automatic, especially not now when small businesses are barely hanging on. Even Bernie’s minimum wage plan was over a period of four years. The majority of Democrats and Independents didn’t want a super progressive President. If that is what they had wanted, they would have voted for Bernie, but they rejected him. He promised 2K checks and flubbed it immediately. 1400 =/= 2000.

The problem is 70M people still voted for Trump. The more polarizing Biden is, the bigger the chances the next elections go to the Republicans. I think he's focused in restoring the country's unity. He said he would be a president for all Americans, not just for democrats. He can't simply outcast half of the country. By trying to conciliate both sides, he might open the doors for a future where Republicans start thinking a bit more about human rights... There is no evidence to suggest Biden won because he was a milquetoast Democrat. For all we know he could've had a safer margin if he had been bolder. Polarizing is not the right word here. The hardcore Trumplicans were not going to vote for Biden just because he would work with Republicans to pass a smaller Covid relief package. These Trump and QAnon people don't care. Biden needs to go after progressive voters and people normally disengaged from politics. Nothing about raising the minimum wage, passing more relief or forgiving student loan debt will make him an outcast with half the country.

Middle aged, Older aged and AA vote gave Biden his win over Bernie. Bernie was rejected by majority of the voters. He lost the nomination. Biden, along with all the Democrats in Congress pushed for 2,000. The Republicans only agreed to send out 600 of the 2,000. Therefore, the Democrats are making good on their promise by sending out the 1,400 dollars to add to the 600.

Yes, Obama pushed Biden to a win with some important phone calls and some quick endorsements from his fellow candidates to help him overcome Sander's popularity among young voters, voters of color overall, the most in small dollar donations in history, most donations from AA ever, and record numbers of Latino voters, which Biden struggled with in November. The Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, Bernie Sanders did a great job of pushing for relief and swaying Biden, but Biden promised 2K and fumbled. Whispering 18,865
Lol, some people still so upset cause their guy lost. Some statistics to keep in mind: One third of the country has college degrees. They earn, on average, $471 dollars more per week than those with just a high school degree. Over their careers, the college grads will earn a million more than their peers with high school degrees.

President Biden 5,898
Sorry but the last thing we need is the government repaying the debt of every person that made the poor decision to get an expensive-yet-worthless degree in like “Interior Designing” or “Musicology”, and then never used it. The government is not responsible for your reckless spending.... I got drunk

Sander’s “popularity” is not legit popularity if you admit all it takes to beat him was a few endorsements from less knowner moderates. 3. Biden won black voters in a lopsided margin, in particularly black women. He also won every demographic of older voters of color. 4. Congrats every gave you a one dollar bill! Again, not how we win elections. Don’t progressives hate money dictating politics anyhow? “Record donations” don’t make you President, record voter turnout does. So you're saying the ONLY alternative to half ass bare minimum neoliberalism is fascism? wow. The question was “do we want Trump back now that Biden won’t forgive 50K in student loans” and I said no, whether Biden wants 50K forgiven or not won’t make me want Trump back because he was a xenophobic, transphobic, misogynistic disgusting man. Any other overreaching assumptions about my political beliefs you wanna make there buddy? your statement was literally so laughable I almost didn’t even respond. People are so thick I swear. Better Day 5,766
I am not educated on the US education system. Why would they cancel the debts? From my knowledge student are fully aware of the implications of going to education in the US, knowing it is insane amount of money. I am back at college myself and after my 4 years at college and uni I will rack up nearly 24K in student debt (including my previous course) and I am not looking to get it cancelled plus I have to pay my college fees this time around as well.
